Mechanism of action

Hymecromone is a coumarin derivative. It is a diuretic drug. It increases the formation and excretion of bile. It has a selective antispasmodic effect on the bile ducts and Oddi sphincter (does not reduce gastrointestinal (GI) peristalsis) and blood pressure (BP). Reduces bile stasis, prevents crystallization of cholesterol and thus the development of gallstones.

Pharmacokinetics

Intake

When taken orally it is easily absorbed from the digestive tract. The maximum concentration in blood serum is reached after 2-3 hours. The elimination half-life is about 1 hour.

Distribution

In plasma it is bound to plasma proteins. The volume of distribution is 20.8±11.4 liters. There are no data on excretion of gimecromone with breast milk.

Metabolism

Hymecromone is metabolized mainly in the liver to glucuronide and sulfate metabolites.

Exhaustion

Hymecromone is excreted by the kidneys (about 93% as glucuronide, 1.4% as sulfate 0.3% unchanged).

Composition

How to take, the dosage

Ingestion, 30 minutes before a meal; adults – 400 mg 3 times a day. Daily dose is 1200 mg.

The course of treatment is 2 weeks.

The whole tablet is taken as a whole.

If a dose is missed, take the medication as soon as possible or if the next dose is coming up, do not take the missed dose. Do not take a double dose at once.

Interaction

Special Instructions

The drug should not be used if symptoms of renal or hepatic failure develop.

Medications should not be thrown down drains or into household waste containers.

Check with your pharmacist on how to dispose of unused medication.

These measures will help protect the environment.

Odeston Forte has no effect on the ability to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially dangerous activities requiring increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

The drug should be discontinued if symptoms of renal/liver failure occur.

Side effects

The drug Odeston Forte is usually well tolerated.

Infrequency of adverse reactions

Gastrointestinal disorders
Rare: diarrhea, flatulence, feeling of fullness or pressure in the stomach.
Unknown: abdominal pain, ulceration of the gastrointestinal mucosa.

Immune system disorders
Rare: allergic reactions.

Nervous system disorders
Unknown: headache.

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders
Rare: skin rash and other skin allergic reactions.

Pregnancy use

Pregnancy use

There are not enough data on the use of Gymecromone in pregnant women. There are no data on the effect of gimecromone on the fetus when using the drug during pregnancy. As a precautionary measure, it is recommended to avoid the use of Odeston Forte during pregnancy.

Pregnant use

There are no data on excretion of hymecromone in the breast milk.

But the risk to newborns and infants cannot be ruled out. If it is necessary to use the drug, discontinuation of breastfeeding should be considered.

Fertility

In preclinical studies, no effect on fertility has been observed.
