Normax, eye and ear drops 0.3% 5 ml

Normax (norfloxacin) is an antibacterial drug from the group of fluoroquinolones. It has a broad spectrum of bactericidal action.

Highly active against Gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus ducreyi, Klebsiella spp. (including Klebsiella pneumoniae), Morganella morganii, Neisseria spp. (including Neisseria gonorrhoeae), Salmonella spp, Shigella spp.,Proteus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter spp., Chlamydia trachomatis, Citrobacter freundii, Serratia spp., Yersinia spp.

Active against Gram-positive bacteria:Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillinase-producing strains and methicillin-resistant strains), Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus saprophyticus, some strains of Streptococcus spp.

Entococcus spp. and Acinetobacter spp. are not sensitive to the drug.

Indications

Otitis media, acute and exacerbation of chronic otitis media; eye infections, including conjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, corneal ulcer, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis.

How to take, the dosage

Topically, 1-2 drops in the affected eye or ear 4 times a day. Depending on the degree of infection, the dose on the first day may be increased to 1-2 drops every 2 hours.

Before using Normax ear drops, the external auditory canal should be sanitized (the external auditory canal should be rinsed and dried). The drops should be warm (have body temperature). You should lie on your side or tilt your head back to make it easier to put the drops in.

Push the indicated amount of drops into the external ear canal. Allow the drops to drain into the ear canal by pulling the earlobe down and back. Keep your head tilted back for about 2 minutes. A cotton turunda may be placed in the external ear canal. Once the symptoms of the disease have disappeared, the drug should be continued for the next 48 hours.

Or as directed by your doctor. In acute and chronic trachoma 2 drops in each eye 2-4 times a day for 1-2 months.

Interaction

The norfloxacin solution is incompatible with drugs with a pH value of 3-4 that are physically or chemically unstable.

Special Instructions

Normax is intended for topical use only.

To achieve the best therapeutic effect, Normax should be used in combination with systemic antimicrobial therapy (except for noncomplicated cases).

The solution and the dropper should be protected from contamination.

Impact on the ability to drive and operate machinery

In 30 minutes after putting the drug into the eyes one should refrain from engaging in potentially hazardous activities requiring increased attention.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity (including history).

Hypersensitivity (including anamnesis), tendinitis or tendon rupture associated with administration of norfloxacin or other drug from quinolone group; glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, children and adolescents under 18 years of age, for drops – under 12 years (safety and effectiveness of norfloxacin in children and adolescents is not determined; it should be noted that norfloxacin causes arthropathy in immature animals).

Side effects

Digestive system disorders: nausea, heartburn, anorexia, diarrhea; abdominal pain.

CNS disorders: headache, dizziness, fatigue, sleep disorders, irritability, anxiety.

Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, Quincke’s edema.

Overdose

There are no specific symptoms if Normax is accidentally ingested.

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, anxiety are possible.

The treatment is the usual emergency measures, adequate fluid intake, creating an acidic urine reaction to prevent crystalluria. When using Normax ear drops in the recommended doses no overdose phenomena were observed.

Pregnancy use

Normax is contraindicated in children under 15 years of age, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.
