Normax, 400 mg 6 pcs

Normax (norfloxacin) is an antibacterial drug from the group of fluoroquinolones. It has a broad spectrum of bactericidal action.

Highly active against Gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus ducreyi, Klebsiella spp. (including Klebsiella pneumoniae), Morganella morganii, Neisseria spp. (including Neisseria gonorrhoeae), Salmonella spp, Shigella spp.,Proteus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter spp., Chlamydia trachomatis, Citrobacter freundii, Serratia spp., Yersinia spp.

Active against Gram-positive bacteria:Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillinase-producing strains and methicillin-resistant strains), Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus saprophyticus, some strains of Streptococcus spp.

Entococcus spp. and Acinetobacter spp. are not sensitive to the drug.

Indications

Acute and chronic urinary tract infections (incl. Acute and chronic infections of the urinary tract (including pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis), infections of the genitals (including chronic prostatitis, cervicitis, endometritis), uncomplicated gonorrhea, GI (including salmonellosis, shigellosis); prevention of infections in patients with granulocytopenia, intestinal infections

How to take, the dosage

Normax is taken orally at 400 mg twice a day.

In severe infections the single dose can be increased to 800 mg.

The duration of treatment is determined individually. The minimum course of treatment is 3 days.

Interaction

In concomitant use of Normox and warfarin the anticoagulant effect of the latter is increased.

In concomitant use of Normax and cyclosporine an increase in the concentration of the latter in blood plasma is noted.

In concomitant administration of Normax with antacids or drugs containing iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc, sucralfate, absorption of norfloxacin is reduced due to the formation of complexons with metal ions.

Pharmaceutical interactions

Norfloxacin solution is incompatible with drugs with a pH value of 3-4 that are physically or chemically unstable.

Special Instructions

To use Normox with caution in patients with epilepsy, seizure syndrome of other etiology, marked liver and/or kidney dysfunction.

The drug should be taken at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking antacids or drugs containing iron, magnesium, zinc or sucralfate.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity (including history). hypersensitivity (including history), tendinitis or tendon rupture associated with administration of norfloxacin or other drug from quinolone group; glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, children and adolescents under 18 years old, for drops under 12 years old (safety and effectiveness of norfloxacin in children and adolescents is not determined; it should be noted that norfloxacin causes arthropathy in immature animals).

Side effects

Systemic effects

Gastrointestinal system: decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, mouth bitterness (including after eye instillation), abdominal pain, diarrhea, increased activity of liver transaminases, ALP, LDH; pseudomembranous colitis (with long-term use).

Urogenital system disorders: crystalluria, glomerulonephritis, dysuria, polyuria, albuminuria, hypercreatininemia, urethral bleeding.

Nervous system and sensory system disorders: headache, dizziness, insomnia, hallucinations, fainting.

Cardiovascular system and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): tachycardia, abnormal heart rate, decreased blood pressure, vasculitis, leukopenia, eosinophilia, decreased hematocrit.

Musculoskeletal system: tendinitis, tendon rupture, arthralgia.

Allergic reactions: skin itching, urticaria, edema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

Others: candidiasis.

Injection into the eye: visual disturbance, burning and pain in the eye, conjunctival hyperemia, chemosis, photophobia, allergic reactions.
