Naphtisin Reneval, 0.1% drops 20 ml

A vasoconstrictor agent. It stimulates alpha1- and alpha2-adrenoreceptors, has antiedematous effect. The vasoconstrictor effect is manifested by local application on the nasal mucosa. In rhinitis it facilitates nasal breathing by reducing blood flow to the venous sinuses.

Pharmacokinetics

The vasoconstrictor effect occurs within a few minutes and lasts for several hours.

Indications

In acute rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, to facilitate rhinoscopy, to stop nasal bleeding.

How to take, the dosage

In rhinitis patients: 1 to 3 drops of 0.05-0.1% preparation is placed in each nasal passage for adults 3-4 times a day; children aged 1-6 years are prescribed 1 to 2 drops of 0.05% of the drug; children aged 6-15 years – 2 drops 1-3 times a day. In case of nasal bleeding tampons moistened with 0.05% drug are used. After nasal cavity cleaning the patient should put 3-4 drops in each nasal passage or place a tampon dipped in 0.05% of the preparation and keep it for 1-2 minutes.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity; arterial hypertension, expressed atherosclerosis, thyrotoxicosis, childhood age (less than 1 year), chronic rhinitis, severe eye disease, diabetes, concomitant use of MAO inhibitors and period up to 14 days after their use.

With caution:

With prolonged use, the severity of vasoconstrictor action gradually decreases (phenomenon of tachyphylaxis), so it is recommended to take a break for several days after 5-7 days of use.

Side effects

Nausea, tachycardia, headache, increased BP, reactive hyperemia, nasal mucosa swelling. Irritation, if used for more than 1 week – nasal mucous membrane edema, atrophic rhinitis.
