Naphtisin, nasal drops 0.1%, 15 ml

Naphthizin has a rapid, pronounced and prolonged vasoconstrictor effect on the nasal mucosa vessels (reduces swelling, hyperemia, exudation).

It eases nasal breathing in rhinitis. After 5-7 days tolerance occurs.

How to take, the dosage

Intranasally (into each nasal passage), 1-3 drops 3-4 times a day in adults.

Interaction

Do not combine with MAO inhibitors (after termination of their use the drug should not be administered earlier than 14 days).

Longens the effect of local anesthetics used for surface anesthesia.

Special Instructions

It is not recommended for chronic rhinitis.

In case of long-term use it should be taken into account that the vasoconstrictor effect gradually decreases (phenomenon of tachyphylaxis), so after 5-7 days of use it is recommended to take a break for a few days.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, arterial hypertension, marked atherosclerosis, hyperthyroidism, chronic rhinitis, severe eye disease, diabetes mellitus;

tachycardia;

concomitant use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors and the period up to 14 days after termination of their use, age under 18 years (for 0.1% solution), age under 1 year (for 0.05% solution).

Side effects

Reactions caused by the local action of the drug: mucous membrane irritation, reactive hyperemia, when used for more than 1 week – mucous membrane edema, atrophic rhinitis.

Reactions caused by the systemic action of the drug: nausea, headache; in some cases in predisposed patients – BP increase, tachycardia.
