The remedy is of vegetable origin. It is contained in the leaves and stems of peppermint. The base of the essential oil consists of menthol, menthone, pinenes, dipentene, phellandrene, cineole, pulegon, jasmon, esters of menthol, valerian and acetic acids.

It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect, causes local vasoconstriction, reduces skin itching, reflexively dilates vessels of the heart, brain, lungs; increases appetite, reduces nausea, vomiting, hiccups, increases salivation, bowel peristalsis, has a carminative effect, helps reduce the pressure inside the colon and reduces flatulence.

Menthol and other components of the essential oil have an antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract, gently stimulates the secretion of digestive glands. Expectorant, mucolytic and moderate antihypoxic effects persist when inhaled with peppermint oil.

It has antiseptic, deodorizing and refreshing properties.

Mint tablets are used sublingually – 1-2 tablets.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Peppermint tablets, early childhood (under 3 years of age).
