Methyluracil has anabolic activity.

It has hematopoietic, leukopoietic, immunostimulating, anti-inflammatory effect.

Normalizing the nucleic exchange, accelerates the process of regeneration in wounds by accelerating the growth and granulation maturation of tissue and epithelialization (including in the rapidly proliferating cells of the mucous coat of the gastrointestinal tract), stimulates erythro- and leukopoiesis, cellular and humoral immune factors.

How to take, the dosage

Overly, with or after meals.

Adults – 500 mg 4 times daily (if necessary up to 6 times daily, maximum daily dose – 3 g);

Children from 3 to 8 years – 250 mg 3 times a day (maximum daily dose – 750 mg);

Children from 8 years to 14 years – 250-500 mg 3 times a day (maximum daily dose – 1 g.5 г).

The course in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract is 30-40 days; in other cases it may be less long.

Interaction

Enhances the anti-radiation effect of cystamine.

Special Instructions

Methyluracil is reasonable to prescribe in mild forms of leukopenia. When the disease is of moderate severity, the drug is taken only after restoration of blood cell regeneration disorders. In severe forms of hematopoiesis lesions methyluracil is not prescribed.

There is no information about the effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and operate complex machinery. Until the individual reaction of a patient to the drug is clarified one should refrain from driving motor transport or operating machinery taking into account that during treatment with methyluracil the following side effects on nervous system may occur: dizziness.

Contraindications

Leukemic forms of leukemia (especially myeloid), lymphogranulematosis, malignant bone marrow diseases.

Side effects

Rarely, allergic skin reactions (urticarial rash), headache, dizziness.

In pregnancy and lactation, the anticipated benefit to the mother must be weighed against the potential risk to the fetus and child.
