It participates in the metabolism of sulfur-containing amino acids, in the synthesis of epinephrine, creatinine and other biologically important compounds, activates the action of hormones, vitamins (B12, ascorbic and folic acids), enzymes, proteins, re-methylation, deamination, decarboxylation reactions etc.

How to take, the dosage

Methionine is taken orally 30-60 minutes before a meal: adults -3-4 times a day for 0.5-1.5 g, children 7 years and older – 0.5 g, 5-6 years – 0.3 g, 3-4 years – 0.25 g, 1-2 years – 0.2 g, under 1 year – 0.1 g.

The course of therapy is 10 days with 10-day intervals or 10-30 days.

Interaction

Methionine reduces the effects of levodopa when used with it.

Contraindications

Hepatitis, severe hepatic insufficiency, hepatic encephalopathy, hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug, children under 6 years.
