The analog of gamma-butyrobetaine, inhibits gamma-butyrobetaine hydroxylase, reduces carnitine synthesis and transport of long-chain fatty acids through cell membranes, prevents accumulation of activated forms of non-oxidized fatty acids in cells – derivatives of acylcarnitine and acyl coenzyme A. As a result of a decrease in the concentration of carnitine there is increased synthesis of gamma-butyrobetaine, which has vasodilatory properties. < br>

The mechanism of action determines its cardioprotective effect. In case of acute ischemic myocardial damage it slows down the formation of the necrotic zone and shortens the rehabilitation period. < br>

In case of CHD it increases tolerance to physical load. < br>

In angina of tension reduces the frequency of attacks. < br>

In acute and chronic ischemic cerebral circulatory disorders improves blood circulation in the focus of ischemia and promotes redistribution of blood in favor of the ischemic area. < br>

It is effective in case of vascular and dystrophic pathology of the eye fundus.< br>

Indications

Reduced performance, physical overexertion (including in athletes), postoperative period to accelerate rehabilitation.

In the treatment of: CHD (angina, myocardial infarction), CHF, cardialgia against myocardial dystrophy.

In complex therapy: cerebrovascular disorders (ischemic stroke, cerebrovascular insufficiency).

In the complex therapy: acute circulatory disorders in the retina, hemophthalmos and retinal haemorrhages of various etiology, thrombosis of the central retinal vein and its branches, retinopathies of various etiology (including diabetic and hypertensive) – only for parabulbar injection.

The withdrawal alcohol syndrome (as a part of the complex specific therapy).

How to take, the dosage

Injection, parabulbar.

In view of the possible development of excitatory effects, it is recommended to use in the morning.

Cardiovascular diseases

Unstable angina pectoris and myocardial infarction – by IV fluids, 0.5-1 g once daily. As part of complex therapy – by injection (5-10 ml of 100 mg/ml injection solution), using the entire dose at once or divided into 2 doses. The course of treatment is 4-6 weeks.

Cardialgia against myocardial dyshormonal dystrophy – by injection by injection 0.5-1 g 1 time per day, the course of treatment – 10-14 days.

Cerebrovascular disorders

Acute phase of cerebrovascular disease – 500 mg 1 time daily by IV for 10 days. If necessary, it is possible to conduct a repeated course.

Ophthalmology

. Hemophthalmia and retinal hemorrhages of various etiology, central retinal vein thrombosis and its branches, retinopathies of various etiology (diabetic, hypertensive) – parabulbar 0.5 ml of 100 mg/ml solution for 10 days.

Chronic alcoholism

V/v, 500 mg 2 times a day. The course of treatment is 7-10 days.

Interaction

Enhances the effect of coronary and hypotensive drugs, cardiac glycosides.

Because of the possible development of moderate tachycardia and arterial hypotension, caution should be exercised when combining with nitroglycerin, nifedipine, alpha-adrenoblockers, hypotensive drugs and peripheral vasodilators.

May be combined with antianginal drugs, anticoagulants, antiaggregants, antiarrhythmic drugs, diuretics, bronchodilators.

Special Instructions

Years of experience in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina in cardiology departments show that trimethylhydrazinium propionate dihydrate is not a first-line drug in acute coronary syndrome and its use is not acutely necessary.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, increased intracranial pressure (with impaired venous outflow and intracranial tumors), pregnancy, lactation, age under 18 years.

With caution. Chronic liver and kidney diseases.

Side effects

Rarely, itching of the skin, dyspepsia, tachycardia, agitation, decreased BP.
