Melaxen – normalizing biological rhythms, sedative, normalizing physiological sleep, adaptogenic.

It regulates the sleep-wake cycle, daily changes in locomotor activity and body temperature.

Pharmacodynamics

Normalizes circadian rhythms. Speeds up falling asleep, reduces the number of night awakenings, improves feelings after waking up in the morning (does not cause a feeling of lethargy, discomfort and fatigue upon awakening). Adapts the body to rapid change of time zones, reduces stress reactions.

It has immunostimulating and pronounced antioxidant properties. Inhibits the secretion of gonadotropins and, to a lesser extent, other pituitary hormones (corticotropin, thyrotropin, somatotropin). It is not addictive and not dependent.

Pharmacokinetics

In oral administration it is quickly and completely adsorbed and easily passes histohematic barriers including the BBB. It has a short T1/2.

How to take, the dosage

Internal, 30-40 minutes before bedtime.

Adults: 0.5-1 tablet once a day.

As an adaptogen when changing time zones – 1 day before the flight and in the next 2-5 days – 1 tablet a day.

The maximum daily dose is up to 2 tablets a day.

Interaction

It enhances the effect of CNS depressant drugs and beta-adrenoblockers.

It is not recommended to take together with hormonal drugs; it is incompatible with MAO inhibitors.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, marked renal dysfunction, leukemia, lymphoma, lymphogranulematosis, myeloma, diabetes mellitus, chronic renal failure.

Side effects

When used in physiological doses, adverse reactions are rare.

Allergic reactions, edema (in the first week of use), headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, morning sleepiness have been described against the background of melatonin use.

Overdose

Symptoms: in case of accidental overdose – increase in the severity of side effects.

Treatment: gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy.
