Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics< br>Sodium heparin is a direct acting anticoagulant. It prevents thrombosis, inhibits the activity of hyaluronidase, activates the fibrinolytic properties of the blood.

When applied topically it has local antithrombotic, anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effect, improves blood microcirculation and activates tissue exchange which accelerates the process of hematoma and thrombus resorption, reduces tissue edema.

Pharmacokinetics< br> A small amount of heparin is absorbed from the skin surface into the systemic blood stream. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood is observed 8 hours after application. Excretion of heparin mainly occurs through the kidneys, the half-life is 12 hours. It does not penetrate through the placental barrier.

Composition

Per 100 g of gel:
Active ingredient: sodium heparin – 100 000 ME
Excipients: carbomer, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, ethanol 96%, neroli oil, lavender oil, trolamine (triethanolamine), purified water.

How to take, the dosage

Oternally.
A small amount of gel (3-10 cm) 1-3 times a day is applied thinly to the affected area and gently rubbed into the skin.

In diseases of superficial veins:

in the initial symptoms of venous insufficiency (“heaviness”, pain in the legs, venous edema) apply for 1-3 weeks, depending on the severity of symptoms;

em>in chronic venous insufficiency use for 4-6 weeks depending on the severity of symptoms, use no more than 6 weeks;

In blunt injuries and soft tissue bruises: course of treatment 5-7 days or until symptoms disappear, apply for not more than 10 days;

For subcutaneous hematomas, including hematomas after operations on the veins, phlebectomy:the course of treatment 7-21 days or until symptoms disappear, use no more than 4 weeks.

For localized infiltrates and soft tissue edema:course of treatment 4-6 weeks or until symptoms disappear, use no more than 6 weeks.

The need for further treatment is determined by the doctor.

If during the treatment period there is no improvement or if symptoms worsen or new symptoms develop, you should consult a doctor. Use the medication only according to the indication, route of administration, and dosage listed in the directions.

Interaction

Protrombin time and clotting time should be monitored during long-term use of heparin on large areas of the skin and concomitant use of indirect anticoagulants (warfarin, acenocoumarol, etc.).

It is not recommended to mix with other drugs for external use. Concomitant use with preparations for external use containing tetracyclines, antihistamines or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is not recommended. If you are using the above or other medicines (including over-the-counter medicines), consult your doctor before using Lyoton® 1000.

Special Instructions

It is not recommended to apply on the mucous membranes, open wounds and use in the presence of purulent lesions in the intended place of application of the gel.

Lyoton® 1000 is not recommended for use in case of deep vein thrombosis. Methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate contained in Lyoton® 1000 may cause allergic reactions (including delayed type).

Influence on driving and operating ability
The use of the drug does not influence the ability to drive vehicles and other potentially dangerous activities requiring increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reaction.
