Lincomycin-ACOS, 2% ointment 15 g

Lincomycin ointment is antibacterial. It suppresses protein synthesis of bacteria due to reversible binding to 50S ribosome subunit, disrupts formation of peptide bonds. After oral administration 20-30% of the dose taken is absorbed, maximum concentration in blood is reached after 2-4 hours.

It penetrates into the bile and bone tissue. Passes poorly through the blood-brain barrier. It is metabolized in liver. It is excreted with the urine and feces.

It is effective against Gram-positive microorganisms (staphylococci, streptococci, pneumococci, diphtheria bacilli), some anaerobic spore-forming bacteria (clostridia) and gram-negative anaerobes (bacteroides, mycoplasmas).

It acts on microorganisms (especially staphylococci) that are resistant to other antibiotics. Resistance develops slowly. In therapeutic doses causes bacteriostasis, in higher doses – cell death.

Indications

Infectious and inflammatory diseases of severe course: Sepsis, acute and chronic osteomyelitis, septic endocarditis, pneumonias, pulmonary abscess, pleural empyema, purulent skin and soft tissue infections, horny inflammation, otitis media and other infections caused by microorganisms resistant to penicillins and other antibiotics.

Lincomycin hydrochloride (in terms of lincomycin) – 2.0 g.

Auxiliary substances:

Zinc oxide, potato starch, solid paraffin (petroleum paraffin solid), vaseline (petroleum jelly medical).

How to take, the dosage

Lincomycin ointment is used topically. It is applied in a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin.

Interaction

Antagonism of action – with erythromycin synergism – with aminoglycosides.

Special Instructions

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, marked liver and/or kidney function abnormalities, pregnancy, lactation, early breast age (up to 1 month).

Limitations to use: fungal skin diseases, mucous membranes of the oral cavity, vagina, myasthenia (parenteral administration).
