The pharmacological action of the drug is due to the properties of the constituent active ingredients – lignin and lactulose.

Lignin hydrolysis is a natural enterosorbent consisting of products of hydrolysis of wood components, it has high sorption activity and non-specific detoxifying effect.

Binds in the intestine and removes pathogenic bacteria and bacterial toxins, medications, salts of heavy metals, alcohol, allergens, as well as excess of certain metabolic products, including bilirubin, cholesterol, histamine, serotonin, urea and other metabolites responsible for the development of endogenous toxicity. It is non-toxic, not absorbed, completely eliminated from the intestine within 24 hours.

Lactulose is a synthetic disaccharide whose molecule consists of galactose and fructose residues. Lactulose is not absorbed and is not hydrolyzed in the stomach and upper intestines. Lactulose released from the tablets is fermented in the large intestine as a substrate by normal intestinal microflora, stimulating the growth of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli.

Lactulose hydrolysis in the large intestine produces organic acids – lactic, acetic and formic acids, which inhibit the growth of pathogenic microorganisms and reduce the production of nitrogenous toxic substances.

The process described leads to increase of osmotic pressure in the lumen of the large intestine and stimulation of peristalsis. The complex action of the preparation is aimed at normalization of microbiocenosis of the large intestine and reduction of intensity of endogenous toxic conditions.

The use of the preparation in complex therapy of bacterial vaginosis (vaginal dysbiosis) leads to increase of efficiency of therapy including the increase of lactobacillus number in the vagina and the effective suppression of opportunistic flora growth.

Indications

Intestinal microflora disorders (intestinal dysbacteriosis), including antibiotic therapy, in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis and liver cirrhosis; allergic diseases (atopic dermatitis, urticaria), bacterial vaginosis (vaginal dysbiosis).

Composition

Composition per tablet:

Lignin hydrolysis (in terms of dry matter) – 355 mg

Lactulose (in terms of 100% substance) – 120 mg

Harmful substances:

Croscarmellose sodium – 20 mg

Magnesium stearate – 5 mg

Microcrystalline cellulose – until a tablet of 550 mg

How to take, the dosage

Orally, if necessary after prior crushing, with water, one hour before eating and taking other medicines.

In case of intestinal dysbacteriosis:

Adults and children over 12 years – 2-3 tablets 3 times a day; – Children from 8 to 12 years – 1-2 tablets 3 times a day;

Interaction

The therapeutic effect of some concomitant medications may be reduced.

Precautions when taking the drug

The drug may be used in combination therapy with other medicinal products if the rule of separate administration is observed.

Interaction with alcohol

There are no data on interaction with alcohol.

The drug is approved for over-the-counter use.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to the drug, intestinal obstruction, gastrointestinal bleeding, galactosemia. It is undesirable to use the drug in acute gastric and 12 duodenal ulcer disease, intestinal atony.

Side effects

Overdose

Symptoms: constipation, abdominal pain.

Treatment: discontinuation of the drug.

Pregnancy use

There are no data on the safety of the drug Laktofiltrum in pregnancy, lactation and children.
