Itraconazole is a triazole derivative.

Irunine inhibits (disrupts) the synthesis of ergosterol, which is an important component of the cell membrane of fungi, which determines the antifungal effect of the drug.

Irunin is active against dermatophytes (Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp, Epidermophyton floccosum), yeast fungi Candida spp. (including Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei), molds (Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus spp, Histoplasma spp., Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Sporothrix schenckii, Fonsecaea spp., Cladosporium spp., Blastomyces dermatidis).

Indications

• dermatomycoses;
• fungal keratitis;
• onychomycoses caused by dermatophytes and/or yeasts and molds;
• systemic mycoses: systemic aspergillosis and candidiasis, cryptococcosis (including cryptococcal meningitis), histoplasmosis, sporotrichosis, paracoccidioidomycosis, blastomycosis and other systemic or tropical mycoses;
• candidomycoses with skin or mucosal lesions, including vulvovaginal candidiasis;
• deep visceral candidiasis;
• liverwort.

How to take, the dosage

The drug Irunin is prescribed orally immediately after eating, the capsules are swallowed whole.

In cases of vaginal candidiasis the drug is prescribed in a dose of 200 mg twice a day for 1 day or in a dose of 200 mg once a day for 3 days.

Fungal skin disease – 100 mg once daily for 15 days.

For oral candidiasis – 100 mg once daily for 15 days.

In fungal nail disease, Irunin is given in a dose of 200 mg daily for 3 months or repeated courses of 200 mg 2 times daily for 1 week with subsequent intervals (pulse therapy).

Fungal diseases of internal organs – 200 mg 1 time per day for 2-7 months, if necessary the dose of Irunine is increased to 200 mg 2 times per day.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug or its constituent parts.

Side effects

The most commonly reported adverse reactions associated with the use of itraconazole were gastrointestinal reactions such as dyspepsia, nausea, abdominal pain, and constipation.

In addition, anorexia: Anorexia, headache, fatigue, reversible increased liver enzyme activity, cholestatic jaundice, hepatitis, menstrual disorders, dizziness, and allergic reactions (such as itching, rash urticaria and angioedema), peripheral neuropathy, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, alopecia, hypokalemia, edema, congestive heart failure and pulmonary edema, dark urine staining, and hypercreatininemia.

In very rare cases severe toxic liver damage, including cases of acute hepatic failure with lethal outcome, developed during Irunin use.

Pregnancy use

In pregnancy and lactation, the drug Irunin is prescribed only in cases where the expected effect of treatment exceeds the possible risk of side effects.
