Itraconazole is a triazole derivative.
Irunine inhibits (disrupts) the synthesis of ergosterol, which is an important component of the cell membrane of fungi, which determines the antifungal effect of the drug.
Irunin is active against dermatophytes (Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp, Epidermophyton floccosum), yeast fungi Candida spp. (including Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei), molds (Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus spp, Histoplasma spp., Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Sporothrix schenckii, Fonsecaea spp., Cladosporium spp., Blastomyces dermatidis).
Indications
ringworm;
fungal keratitis;
onychomycosis caused by dermatophytes and/or yeasts and molds;
systemic mycoses: systemic aspergillosis and candidiasis, cryptococcosis (including cryptococcal meningitis), histoplasmosis, sporotrichosis, paracoccidioidomycosis, blastomycosis and other systemic or tropical mycoses;
candidomycosis with damage to the skin or mucous membranes, including vulvovaginal candidiasis;
deep visceral candidiasis;
pityriasis versicolor.

Pregnancy
During pregnancy and lactation, the drug Irunin is prescribed only in cases where the expected effect of treatment exceeds the possible risk of side effects.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug or its components.
Side Effects
The most commonly reported adverse reactions associated with the use of itraconazole were gastrointestinal reactions such as dyspepsia, nausea, abdominal pain and constipation.
In addition, the following were noted: anorexia, headache, fatigue, reversible increase in liver enzymes, cholestatic jaundice, hepatitis, menstrual irregularities, dizziness and allergic reactions (such as itching, rash, urticaria and angioedema), peripheral neuropathy, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, alopecia, hypokalemia, edema, congestive heart disease pulmonary insufficiency and edema, dark urine staining, hypercreatininemia.
In very rare cases, when using Irunin, severe toxic damage to the liver developed, incl. cases of acute liver failure with fatal outcome.
