Pharmacodynamics:

Antiseptic agent. It has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. It is active against bacteria including Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus fungi viruses protozoa.

The active ingredient of the drug is iodine in the form of a complex with polyvinylpyrrolidone. The drug refers to iodophores which bind iodine. In contact with the skin and mucous membranes iodine is gradually and evenly released.

Composition

1 suppository contains:

the active substance: povidone iodine (iodovidone) (with not less than 10% free iodine in terms of dry matter) 0.20 g;

auxiliary substances: macrogol-400 (polyethylene oxide-400) 0.17 g, macrogol-4000 (polyethylene oxide 4000) 0.28 g, macrogol-1500 (polyethylene oxide-1500) – enough to obtain a suppository weight of 2.25 g.

How to take, the dosage

The drug is used intravaginally. Before releasing the suppository from the contoured package it is inserted lying on the back deep into the vagina.

In case of subacute and chronic vaginitis, 1 suppository at night for 14 days (regardless of the phase of the menstrual cycle).

In acute vaginitis – 1 suppository 2 times a day for 7 days.

For preventing complications of infectious genesis in gynecology the preparation is given intravaginally 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening before going to bed) for 1 to 7 days.

Contraindications

Individual hypersensitivity to the drug hyperthyroidism dermatitis of Duhring’s adenoma of the thyroid gland renal insufficiency concurrent therapy with radioactive iodine childhood age I trimester of pregnancy lactation period.

II and III trimesters of pregnancy chronic renal failure.
