Pharmacodynamics:

Antiseptic agent. It has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. It is active against bacteria including Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus fungi viruses protozoa.

The active ingredient of the drug is iodine in the form of a complex with polyvinylpyrrolidone. The drug refers to iodophores which bind iodine. In contact with the skin and mucous membranes iodine is gradually and evenly released.

Indications

Acute and chronic infectious inflammatory diseases of the vagina (mixed nonspecific infections), including vaginal infections caused by Trichomonas and fungi; preoperative prevention of complications of infectious origin in gynecology.

Special instructions

In the case of non-manifest hyperthyroidism and other diseases of the thyroid gland (especially in elderly patients), the drug is used only according to strict indications and under constant medical supervision. Avoid contact with eyes.

Composition

1 suppository contains:

active substance: povidone-iodine (iodovidone) (containing at least 10% free iodine in terms of dry matter) 0.20 g;

excipients: macrogol-400 (polyethylene oxide-400) 0.17 g, macrogol-4000 (polyethylene oxide 4000) 0.28 g, macrogol-1500 (polyethylene oxide-1500) – a sufficient amount to obtain a suppository weighing 2.25 g.

Contraindications

Side Effects

Interaction

The drug should not be used in combination with other antiseptics containing mercury, alkali oxidizers and cationic surfactants. In the presence of blood, the bactericidal effect of the drug may decrease.
