It is intended for local application in ophthalmology. It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.
The main action of the drug is to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins which play an important role in the pathogenesis of inflammation and pain.
Pharmacokinetics
There is confirmed evidence that the drug penetrates into the anterior chamber of the eye. With a single instillation the active ingredient of the drug is determined in the moisture of the anterior chamber for several hours.
In local administration of Indocollir systemic absorption is low.

Composition
Eye drops 0.1% in the form of a clear solution of pale yellow color.
1 mlindomethacin 1 mg.
Auxiliary substances:
thiomersal,
arginine,
hydroxypropyl betacyclodextrin,
Hydrochloric acid,
Purified water.
How to take, the dosage
In order to inhibit intraoperative miosis the drug is applied 1 drop in the conjunctival sac for 2 hours at 30 minute intervals (4 times) before surgery.
In order to prevent cystic macular edema the drug is put in 1 drop 3-4 times a day for 1 month after surgery.
For other indications, 1 drop 3-4 times a day is prescribed depending on the severity of the condition. The course of treatment may last from 1 to 4 weeks.
Interaction
Can be used, if necessary, simultaneously with other eye drops, including those containing GCS. A break between applications should be at least 5 min to prevent washout of the active substances by subsequent doses.
Indocollir may increase the effects of indirect anticoagulants, lithium drugs.
The concomitant use of this drug with diflunisal is not recommended (possible development of GI bleeding) and other NSAIDs, including acetylsalicylic acid at high doses (3 g/day or more).
The concomitant use of indomethacin with beta-adrenoblockers and saluretics may weaken the effects of the latter.
Special Instructions
Contact lenses should be removed prior to instillation and may be inserted 15 minutes after instillation.
The bottle must be closed after each use. The pipette tip should not touch the eye.
Influence on driving and operating machinery
Patients who temporarily lose vision after application of the drug are not recommended to drive or operate complex machinery, machines or any other complex equipment that requires clarity of vision immediately after injection.

Side effects
VIight: frequently, mild to moderate burning and/or temporary loss of visual clarity immediately after eye drops are injected.
Local allergic reactions: frequently – itching and redness of the skin around the eyes.
In long-term use of Indocollir the development of systemic side effects of indomethacin is possible.
Overdose
Inadvertent ingestion of Indocollir poses no risk of side effects.
Pregnancy use
An adequate and well-controlled clinical study on the safety of the drug in pregnancy and during breastfeeding has not been conducted.
