Immunostimulatory drug.
Echinacea contains active substances that, as non-specific stimulants, increase the body’s resistance.
By increasing the number of white blood cells (granulocytes, T-lymphocytes) and stimulating their phagocytosis capacity, they prevent the penetration of microorganisms into the body and accelerate their destruction.
The antiviral effect of Echinacea purpurea on influenza and herpes viruses, its effect on increasing body temperature is also proven.
Indications
Imunal is recommended to use: to strengthen immunity in patients with uncomplicated acute infectious diseases, susceptibility to frequent colds; for the prevention of colds and flu; prevention of reduced immunity in long-term antibiotic treatment.

How to take, the dosage
The preparation in a form of oral drops is indicated for adults and teenagers over 12 years old – 2.5 ml 3 times per day; for children aged 6 to 12 years old – 1.5 ml 3 times per day; for children aged 1 to 6 years old – 1 ml 3 times per day.
To achieve the clinical effect Immunal should be taken for at least 1 week.
The duration of one course of treatment should not exceed 8 weeks.
In order to facilitate the correct dosing of the drops for oral administration a graded dosing dropper is included in each package. The desired amount of drops should be diluted in a small volume of water before intake.
Interaction
Drops for oral administration contain alcohol, due to which the drug may increase or change the effect of other drugs.
Clinically significant drug interactions have been observed with simultaneous use of Immunal with antibiotics of the group of cephalosporins (cefamandol, cefotetan, cefmenoxime, cefaperazone, moxalactam) and ethanol (even in small amounts).
The patient’s reaction was characterized by redness of the face, nausea, increased sweating, headache, and palpitations.
In this regard, Immunal should not be used when treating patients with the above antibiotics. It is possible to use Immunal only after 3 days after the end of the treatment with the above mentioned cephalosporins.
Special Instructions
Contraindications
The use of the drug is contraindicated in progressive systemic diseases, including:
Tuberculosis; leukemia; collagenosis; multiple sclerosis; HIV infection, AIDS; hypersensitivity to components of the drug and plants of the compound family.
Side effects
In some cases hypersensitivity reactions may occur: skin rash, itching, dizziness, bronchospasm, angioedema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, anaphylactic shock, decreased BP, shortness of breath.
Others: leukopenia (if used continuously for more than 8 weeks).
