Meldonium is a structural analog of gamma-butyrobetaine, a substance that is present in every cell of the human body. Meldonium inhibits gamma-butyrobetaine hydroxygenase, reduces carnitine synthesis and transport of long-chain fatty acids through cell membranes, prevents accumulation of activated forms of unoxidized fatty acids in cells – acylcarnitine derivatives and acylkoenzyme A.

In the treatment of CHD (angina pectoris, myocardial infarction); chronic heart failure, dyshormonal cardiomyopathy;

How to take, the dosage

Orally. Cerebrovascular disorders: in the acute phase of cerebrovascular disease, use the injectable form of the drug for 10 days, after which it is prescribed orally at 500 mg/day.

Interaction

Can be combined with antianginal agents, anticoagulants, antiaggregants, antiarrhythmic agents, diuretics, bronchodilators.

Special Instructions

Idrinol is not a first-line drug for acute coronary syndrome.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity; increased intracranial pressure (with impaired venous outflow and intracranial tumors); pregnancy; lactation; children under 18 years of age.

Side effects

Cardiovascular system: rare – tachycardia, decreased or increased BP.

Overdose

Symptoms: BP decrease, accompanied by headache, tachycardia, dizziness and general weakness. Treatment: symptomatic.

Pregnancy use

The safety of using the drug during pregnancy has not been proven.
