Hydrocortisone is a natural glucocorticosteroid. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic effect.

It reduces inflammatory cell infiltrates, reduces migration of leukocytes and lymphocytes in the area of inflammation. Stabilizes cellular and subcellular, including lysosomal membranes and mast cell membranes.

Decreases binding of immunoglobulins to receptors on cell surface and inhibits synthesis or release of cytokines (interleukins and interferon) from lymphocytes and macrophages.

Reduces the release of arachidonic acid from phospholipids and the synthesis of its metabolites (prostaglandins, leukotrienes, thromboxane).

Limits exudative reaction, helps to reduce capillary permeability. It reduces the severity of the early immunological response. It has a catabolic effect and inhibits the development of connective tissue and scarring.

1 ml of suspension for intramuscular and intraarticular administration contains:

How to take, the dosage

Intramuscularly (deeply) into the gluteal muscle at a dose of 50-300 mg up to 1000-1500 mg/day. Before use, the contents of the ampoules should be shaken until a homogeneous suspension is formed.

In acute, life-threatening conditions, administer 100-150 mg every 4 hours for 48 hours; thereafter, every 8-12 hours. In children, 1-2 mg/kg every 4 hours; the optimal daily dose is 6-9 mg/kg.

In the joint cavity, inject 5-25 mg (0.1-1 ml (depending on joint size) once a week. 3-5 injections per course. The action of the drug starts 6-25 hours after injection and lasts several days or weeks.

Interaction

The effect is weakened by barbiturates, hypokalemia is increased by diuretics. Reduces the effect of hypoglycemic agents.

Special Instructions

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery.

If the patient’s visual acuity temporarily decreases after using the drug, it is not recommended to drive and engage in activities requiring visual acuity until it is restored.

Pregnancy use

There have been no studies on the safety and efficacy of hydrocortisone in pregnant and lactating women.

There are no definitive data on the penetration into the breast milk of glucocorticosteroids when used topically. However, the risk cannot be completely excluded.

The use of hydrocortisone in pregnant and lactating women is allowed only when prescribed by the treating physician when the expected therapeutic benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and child.
