Hexicon® is an antiseptic drug for topical use, active against protozoa, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, viruses, including: Treponema pallidum, Chlamidia spp., Ureaplasma spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides fragilis, Herpes-virus.
Indications
Inflammation of the female genitalia, Vaginitis
Prevention of sexually transmitted infections:
- Gonorrhea.
- Syphilis.
- Trichomoniasis.
- Chlamydia.
- Ureaplasmas.
- Henital herpes.
Preventing infectious and inflammatory complications in obstetrics and gynecology:
- Before surgical treatment of gynecological diseases.
- Before labour and abortion.
- Before and after IUD insertion.
- Before and after cervical diathermic coagulation.
- Before intrauterine examinations.
The treatment of chronic exo- and endocervicitis, vaginitis (including nonspecific, mixed and trichomonas).

Chlorhexidine bigluconate – 16 mg (chlorhexidine bigluconate used as a solution (concentration 20%));
Associates:
The base for the suppositories – enough to obtain a suppository weight of 3.10 g – macrogol 1500 (polyethylene oxide 1500) 92 – 98%, macrogol 400 (polyethylene oxide 400) 8 – 2%.
How to take, the dosage
For the prevention of venereal diseases: administered once in 1 soup.
The drug should be used not later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse.
To cure: administer 1 soup. 2 times/day for 7-10 days.
If necessary, it is possible to extend therapy for up to 20 days.
Interaction
Hexicon® is not compatible with detergents containing anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose) and soaps if they are administered intravaginally.
Toiletting the external genitalia does not affect the effectiveness and tolerability of Hexicon® vaginal suppositories, since the drug is used intravaginally.
Special Instructions
If you feel discomfort after inserting the suppository (itching, burning), stop using the drug. During the use of the drug there may be an increase in the amount of vaginal discharge. As a rule, if there is a small amount of transparent secretions, treatment with the drug can not be interrupted. It is recommended to stop using the drug and consult a doctor if there is a surreal discharge. After contact with the drug you should wash your hands to avoid possible contact of chlorhexidine in the eyes. Toilet of the external genitalia does not affect the effectiveness and tolerability of suppositories, because the drug is used intravaginally.
Synopsis
The suppositories are torpedo-shaped white or white with a yellowish tinge. Marbling and the presence of an air rod and a funnel-shaped depression on the cut is allowed.
Features
When administered intravaginally, it is practically not absorbed and has no systemic effect.

- High sensitivity to the ingredients of the drug.
- Allergic reactions.
Side effects
Allergic reactions (rash, itching) and burning are possible. Chlorhexidine in very rare cases (0.0001%) may cause hypersensitivity reactions, including severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. In some cases, there may be the appearance of uterine discharge from the vagina (see section “Special indications”). If any of the side effects listed in the instructions worsen or if you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.
Overdose
At present, no cases of overdose of Hexicon have been reported.
