The drug is used as an expectorant in the treatment of inflammatory respiratory diseases accompanied by cough with sputum difficult to remove (including bronchitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis).

Primrose root extract, Thyme herb extract.

Composition

5 ml of syrup contains:

Active components:

¹Pervoculus of spring root and thyme common herb extract liquid aqueous 3.08 g

Supplementary substances:

Levomenthol, sucrose, methylparahydroxybenzoate (E218)

¹3.08 g of spring primrose root and common thyme herb liquid aqueous extract are prepared from:

Spring primrose roots (Primula veris L, Primulaceae) 0.22-0.51 g

Thyme herbs (Thymusvulgaris L, Lamiaceae) 0.62 g

Purified water (extractant)

How to take, the dosage

In the mouth, it is recommended to take the drug with plenty of warm water.

1 scoop – 5 ml.

Shake before use!

Duration of the course of therapy – 2-3 weeks. It is possible to increase the duration of the treatment or to carry out a repeated course of treatment after consulting the doctor.

Interaction

Gerbion® Primrose Syrup should not be used at the same time as cough suppressants and drugs that reduce sputum formation, because this makes it difficult to cough up liquefied sputum.

Special Instructions

It is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age and in children after acute obstructive laryngitis (croup).

Orally, it is recommended to take the drug with plenty of warm water.

Patients with bronchial asthma, diabetes mellitus, sucrose/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption are contraindicated.

The syrup contains 3.16 g of sucrose in 1 scoop (5 ml). If the patient follows the recommendations for administration of the preparation, which are stated in the instruction, then the patient will take from 3.16 g (1 scoop – 5 ml, which corresponds to 0.316 bread units) to 9.48 g (3 scoops – 15 ml, which corresponds to 0.948 bread units) of sucrose.

The use of Herbion^® Primrose syrup does not influence the ability to perform potentially dangerous activities, which require high concentration and quick psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles, operating moving mechanisms, operator’s work).

Synopsis

The syrup is brown in color with a characteristic odor. It may have opalescence.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as to preparations containing active substances of plants of the primrose and cloverfoot families, children after acute obstructive laryngitis (croup), bronchial asthma, diabetes mellitus, sucrose/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, children under 2 years of age.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible. Possible in very rare cases: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. If side effects occur, stop taking the drug and consult a doctor.

Overdose

No cases of drug overdose have been reported.

In case of overdose of saponin-containing drugs, gastrointestinal disorders manifested by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea are possible.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Pregnancy use

Pregnant and nursing women are contraindicated to take Herbion^® syrup primrose (due to insufficient safety data on the use of the drug in this group of patients).
