As an expectorant in the treatment of acute and chronic inflammatory respiratory diseases, accompanied by cough with sputum difficult to remove.

Composition

1 ml of syrup contains:

Active ingredient:

Ivy leaf extract dry (5-7.5 : 1)* 7.00 mg

Associates: sorbitol liquid (E420), glycerol (E422), sodium benzoate (E211), citric acid monohydrate (E330), balsamic aroma**, purified water

*Ivy leaf extract dry (5-7.5 : 1) is prepared from:

Ivy leaf extract (Hedera helix L., family Araliaceae, folium) and 30% ethanol (extractant).

**Aromatic Balm contains propylene glycol (E1520), ethanol (E1510), citronella oil, citral from Litsea cubeba, lemon oil, coriander oil.

How to take, the dosage

Internal, after meals.

Children from 2 to 5 years

2.5 ml syrup (½ dosage spoon) 2 times daily

Children 6 to 12 years old

5 ml syrup (1 dosing spoon) 2 times daily

Adults and children over 12 years

5-7.5 ml syrup (1-1.5 dosing spoons) 2 times daily

The drug is dispensed using a dosing plastic spoon.

During the treatment with Herbion® ivy syrup it is recommended to drink enough fluids in warm form (water, tea, etc.).

Treatment duration is 7 days. The repeated course is possible upon the doctor’s recommendation.

Interaction

There are no reports about drug interactions of Herbion® Ivy Syrup with other medicinal products. The drug should not be used simultaneously with anti-cough drugs that reduce sputum formation, since this makes it difficult to drain the diluted sputum.

Special Instructions

Contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.

Administer orally, after meals.

Kids 2 to 5 years

2.5 ml syrup (½ dosing spoon) 2 times daily

Children from 6 to 12 years

5 ml syrup (1 dosing spoon) 2 times daily

children over 12 years

By 5-7.5 ml of syrup (1-1.5 dosage spoon) 2 times a day

The duration of treatment is 7 days. The repeated course is possible upon the doctor’s recommendation.

It is contraindicated in patients with sucrose/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome.

Do not take the drug in doses higher than those recommended in the instructions.

In case of respiratory diseases accompanied with shortness of breath, fever, cough or bloody sputum, seek medical advice immediately. If there is no effect during treatment with the drug and the condition worsens, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

The drug Herbion® ivy syrup contains ethyl alcohol (0.01 mg/ml) and sorbitol (E420). Maximal single dose (2.5 ml) for children (from 2 to 5 years old) contains 0.00025 g of absolute ethyl alcohol; maximal single dose (5 ml) for children (from 6 to 12 years old) contains 0.0005 g of absolute ethyl alcohol; maximal single dose (from 5 ml to 7.5 ml) for adults and children over 12 years old contains 0.0005 g – 0.00075 g of absolute ethyl alcohol. In the maximum daily dose: (5 ml) for children (from 2 to 5 years old) contains 0.0005 g of absolute ethyl alcohol; (10 ml) for children (from 6 to 12 years old) contains 0.0010 g of absolute ethyl alcohol; (10 to 15 ml) for adults and children older than 12 years old contains from 0.0010 g to 0.0015 g of absolute ethyl alcohol.

Patients with diabetes need to consider that 5 ml of syrup contains 2.5 g of sorbitol, which corresponds to 0.21 carbohydrate (bread) units (BE).

Contact your doctor if there is no effect after 7 days of treatment or if the condition worsens.

No data on the effect of the preparation Herbion® ivy syrup on the ability to drive vehicles and operate technical devices requiring high concentration and quick psychomotor reactions.

Synopsis

The syrup is yellowish-brown in color with a characteristic odor. The presence of opalescence is allowed.

Contraindications

High sensitivity to the ingredients of the drug, pregnancy, breastfeeding, sucrose/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, children under 2 years of age.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible. Very rarely a laxative effect may be observed, because the drug contains sorbitol.

In the comparative study of efficacy and safety of Gerbion® ivy syrup (Gerbion® ivy syrup was taken by 63 patients) 1 case was registered: skin rash, skin itching and nausea.

Overdose

Enausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur if large doses (three times the recommended daily dose) are taken.

Pregnancy use

Due to insufficient safety data on the use of dried ivy leaf extract in pregnant women and during lactation, Herbion® Ivy Syrup is not recommended for this group of patients.
