When applied externally a small amount of heparin penetrates into the systemic bloodstream without having a systemic effect and causing no changes in blood clotting parameters. Heparin does not penetrate through the placental barrier.

Indications

– diseases of superficial veins: varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency and related complications (superficial thrombophlebitis, superficial periphlebitis);

– Subcutaneous hematomas, including hematomas after venous surgery, phlebectomy;

– localized soft tissue infiltrates and edemas.

Active ingredient

Composition

100 g of the gel contains:

The active ingredient:

sodium heparin 100000 ME;

Excipients:

methyl parahydroxybenzoate – 0.150 g,

ethanol 95% – 24.000 g,

carbomer – 1.000 g,

tromethamol – 0.500 g,

orange blossom oil – 0.025 g,

lavender oil – 0.025 g,

water – up to 100,000 g.

How to take, the dosage

For external use.

A small amount of gel (3-10 cm) 1-3 times a day is applied in a thin layer to the skin and rubbed gently.

In case of localized consequences of injuries and bruises (hematoma, infiltrate, soft tissue swelling) apply until symptoms disappear.

In case of initial symptoms of venous insufficiency (“heaviness”, pain in legs, venous edema) it should be used for 1-3 weeks depending on the intensity of symptoms.

In case of varicose veins and complications of chronic venous insufficiency (superficial periphlebitis, superficial thrombophlebitis) it should be used for 4-6 weeks depending on the severity of the symptoms.

The need for further treatment is determined by the doctor.

Special Instructions

During prolonged use of the drug on large areas of skin and concomitant use of anticoagulants of indirect action (warfarin, synkumar, etc.), prothrombin time and clotting time should be controlled.

Heparin 1000 is not recommended for use in deep vein thrombosis.

There is no experience in using in children under 18 years of age.

Do not exceed the maximum periods and recommended doses of the drug without consulting your physician!

Heparin 1000 does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or work requiring increased concentration.

Synopsis

Contraindications

– hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;

– violation of the integrity of the skin at the site of application of the drug (open wounds, ulcerative and necrotic lesions);

– increased tendency to bleeding, thrombocytopenia;

– age under 18 years (the drug safety and effectiveness has not been studied).

Side effects

In isolated cases, hypersensitivity reactions to components of the drug may occur, manifested by skin redness and/or itching, which usually go away after discontinuation of the drug.

If any of the side effects listed in the instructions worsen, or if you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.

Overdose

The extremely low systemic absorption of the active component of the drug when used topically makes overdose almost impossible.

In case of overdose the effect of heparin may be neutralized by protamine sulfate solution.

In case of overdose of the drug, seek medical attention immediately!

Pregnancy use

The use of the drug Heparin 1000 is not contraindicated in pregnancy and during breast-feeding.

Heparin sodium does not penetrate through the placental barrier and into the breast milk. In connection with insignificant absorption of heparin when using it externally the drug has no systemic effect on the body. However, before using the drug it is necessary to consult with your doctor.
