Glycine-Canon is an agent affecting brain metabolism, a substitutable amino acid. It is a central neurotransmitter of inhibitory type of action. It improves metabolic processes in brain tissues, has sedative and antidepressant effects.

It has glycine and GABA-ergic, α1-adrenoblocking, antioxidant and antitoxic effects; it regulates the activity of NMDA-receptors and due to this reduces psycho-emotional tension, aggressiveness and conflict; improves social adaptation and mood, facilitates falling asleep and normalizes sleep; increases mental performance; reduces the severity of autonomic-vascular disorders (including menopausal).including in menopausal period) and general cerebral disorders in ischemic stroke and craniocerebral trauma, the toxic effects of ethanol on the CNS.

It is effective as an adjunctive agent in epileptic seizures.

Pharmacokinetics

Easy penetration into most body fluids and tissues, including the brain. It does not accumulate. It is rapidly degraded in the liver by glycinoxidase to water and carbon dioxide.

Indications

Stressful conditions, psycho-emotional tension, increased excitability, emotional lability, neuroses, neurosis-like conditions, vegetative-vascular dystonia, consequences of neuroinfections and traumatic brain injury, various forms of encephalopathies (perinatal and other forms), incl. alcoholic origin, sleep disturbance; acute ischemic stroke. To increase mental performance, incl. teenagers with deviant forms of behavior.

Special instructions

Caution should be exercised when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions, taking into account the side effect profile.
