It is a precursor of acetylcholine. It mainly affects cholinergic receptors in CNS.

Glycerophosphate, which is formed during the breakdown of choline alphoscerate, is a precursor of phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine) of the neuronal membrane.

It facilitates transmission of nerve impulses in cholinergic neurons, improves neuronal membrane plasticity and receptor function.

It does not affect the reproductive cycle and has no teratogenic and mutagenic effect. Pharmacokinetics Absorption – 88%. Choline alphocerate easily passes through the blood-brain barrier.

Extracted mainly by lungs as carbon dioxide (85%) and also by the kidneys and intestines (15%).

Indications

Acute period of traumatic brain injury with predominantly brain stem level of damage, chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency (dyscirculatory encephalopathy); dementia syndrome of various origins, incl. Alzheimer’s disease; ischemic stroke (early and late recovery period); Gettington’s chorea; senile pseudomelancholia.
