Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The herbal cough medicine. It has expectorant, mucolytic and bronchospasmolytic action. It reduces the viscosity of sputum and promotes its expectoration.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is a dried ivy leaf extract and contains a complex of biologically active substances (triterpene saponins); therefore, pharmacokinetic studies are not possible.

Composition
1 tablet for sucking contains:
Active ingredient: ivy common leaf extract dry (5-7.5 : 1)1 35,000 mg
Associates: Isomalt (type M) (E953), citric acid (E330), sucralose (E955), caramel flavoring2, citrus flavoring3, peppermint leaf oil
1 Ivy common leaf extract dry is produced from Ivy common leaves (Hedera Helix L., family Araliaceae).
The ratio of the amount of medicinal plant material to the amount of the original extract: 5-7,5 : 1.
Extractant: ethanol (ethyl alcohol) 30% (m/m).
2 Caramel flavoring contains: natural flavoring substance, flavoring preparation, propylene glycol (E1520), water.
3 Citrus flavoring contains: natural flavoring substance, flavoring preparation, butylhydroxyanisole (E320).
How to take, the dosage
It is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.
Children aged 12 years and older: 1 tablet to be taken 3 times a day.
Cronic disease applications
Controlled for patients with fructose intolerance.
To use with caution in gastritis, peptic ulcer disease.
Dosage and administration
Adults and children 12 years of age and older: 1 tablet to be swallowed 3 times a day.
The tablet should be swallowed in the mouth until completely dissolved. The oral swallow should not be taken immediately before or during meals.
When treating with Herbion® Ivy, it is recommended to drink plenty of fluids in warm form (water, tea, etc.), but not immediately after swallowing the tablet.
The duration of treatment is 7 days. Conducting a second course is possible on the recommendation of the doctor.
Interaction
Special Instructions
Herbion® Ivy should not be taken in doses greater than those recommended in the instructions.
In case of respiratory conditions with difficulty breathing, fever, persistent cough, or bloody sputum, consult a physician immediately.
If there is no effect after 7 days of treatment with the drug, or if the condition worsens, a physician should be seen.
In children aged 2 to 12 years, we recommend Gerbion® Ivy Syrup.
Special information about excipients
Gerbion® Ivy, contains isomalt (type M) (E953). One oral tablet contains 2447.5 mg of isomalt. This should be considered by patients with fructose intolerance (see section “Contraindications”).
The product contains butyl hydroxyanisole (E320): local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis) or irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes may occur.
Influence on driving and operating machinery
There are no data on the effect of Herbion® Ivy on the ability to operate vehicles and machinery requiring increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reaction.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as to plants of the Araliaceae family, pregnancy, breastfeeding, fructose intolerance, children under 12 years of age.
Precautionary measures
Gastritis, peptic ulcer disease.
Side effects
Overdose
Symptoms:In large doses (three times the recommended daily dose), nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur.
Treatment: Cancellation of the drug, symptomatic therapy.
