The action of the drug is provided by the presence of Lactobacillus bulgaris and biologically active products of their vital functions (lactic and malic acid, nucleic acids, a number of alpha-amino acids, polypeptides and polysaccharides), as well as high content of proteins (25-30%) that have protective effect on the mucous coat of the GIT, stimulating regeneration processes in the mucous coat of the stomach and duodenum.

The drug also has analgesic and antacid effect due to buffering properties of the protein included in the drug.

Indications

Acute and chronic gastritis;
increased acidity of gastric juice;
peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in children from 3 years of age and adults.
As a prophylactic:
during and after treatment with drugs that irritate the gastrointestinal tract;
when using food that causes an increase in the acidity of gastric juice;
after abuse of alcohol and tobacco.

Pharmacological effect

The drug also has an analgesic and antacid effect due to the buffering properties of the protein included in the drug.

Special instructions

The content of 0.9 g of sugar per tablet should be taken into account when prescribing the drug to patients with diabetes.

The drug is not suitable for use:

expired;
with damaged packaging;
with unclear markings;
when the appearance changes.

Substance from dried viable Lactobacillus cells

Composition

Active ingredients:

a substance consisting of dried viable cells of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus strain 51 (LB-51) – not less than 1·102 (number of live lactobacilli) 1.575 g

protein from 25 to 35% (in terms of total nitrogen – from 4 to 5.6%); lactic acid from 6.3 to 12.6%;

Excipients:

sucrose – no more than 0.9 g;

Magnesium stearate – 0.025 g

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug Gastrofarm.

Side Effects

Not installed. The drug is harmless, non-toxic and does not have a negative effect on drivers of vehicles.

Interaction

Gastrofarm® can be used with all other medicines.
