Gastrareks due to its constituent methylmethionine sulfonium chloride (vitamin U) has gastroprotective effect, protecting and strengthening the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum. It has antioxidant activity and helps protect liver cells.
Methylmethionine sulfonium chloride
Gastrarex contains S-methylmethionine sulfonium chloride – a vitamin-like substance (vitamin U), an activated form of the essential amino acid – methionine, essential for the synthesis of all protein compounds; actively affects the secretory function of the stomach.
Influence on the cells of the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines
. Due to its ability to give its methyl groups necessary for synthesis processes and its influence on choline metabolism, methylmethionine sulfonium chloride stimulates mucin production by the cells of the gastrointestinal mucosa, which increases its protective function against internal and external aggressive factors and activates restoration processes of the gastro-intestinal mucosa cells, directly stimulating the regeneration process of gastric and duodenal cells.
The effect on acidity and dyspeptic manifestations
Methylmethionine sulfonium chloride methylates histamine, which stimulates the production of hydrochloric acid, converting it into its inactive form. The conversion of histamine to its inactive form, methyl histamine, leads to a decrease in the secretion of hydrochloric acid and reduces the possibility of damage to the cells of the stomach and intestines. As a consequence, the typical gastrointestinal disturbances characteristic of excess histamine are reduced: abdominal heaviness, heartburn, bloating, and intestinal motility disorders. With insufficient secretion of hydrochloric acid, methylmethionine sulfonium chloride stimulates its production.
Impact on the gastrointestinal tract when exposed to ethanol
Methylmethionine sulfonium chloride has antioxidant activity by inhibiting lipid peroxidation processes and protects cells of the gastric mucosa from the aggressive effects of ethanol and its derivatives.
The effect on liver cells
Methylmethionine sulfonium chloride has a lipotropic effect on liver cells. Studies have shown that methylmethionine sulfonium chloride reduces the level of total cholesterol and low density lipids (harmful cholesterol) in the blood.
Stabilizes the permeability of cell membranes, preventing the replacement of liver tissue with fatty tissue, improves carbohydrate, protein and lipid metabolism in the liver.
Hastrarex, due to its constituent methylmethionine sulfonium chloride, promotes:
– strengthening and protection of the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum from the influence of aggressive factors;
– normalization of increased or decreased acidity of gastric juice;
– improvement of the secretory function of the stomach and duodenum;
– normalization of gastric and intestinal motility;
– activation of repair processes in the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines at the cellular level;
– reduction of gastrointestinal discomfort;
– improvement of carbohydrate, protein and lipid metabolism in the liver.
