Indications

Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the acute phase;
Acute gastritis, chronic gastritis with increased and normal secretory function in the acute phase, duodenitis, enteritis;
Hiatal hernia, reflux esophagitis;
Discomfort and pain in the epigastrium due to errors in diet, after taking medications, drinking coffee, nicotine, alcohol;
Prophylactically during treatment with glucocorticosteroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Special instructions

The interval between taking Gastracid® and other medications should be 1-2 hours.

Longer use (more than 20 days) requires regular medical supervision. The drug contains sorbitol, which is contraindicated in cases of congenital fructose intolerance.

The drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or engage in other activities that require concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Composition

1 tablet contains aluminum hydroxide 400 mg;

magnesium hydroxide 400 mg

Pregnancy

Contraindicated during pregnancy. Use with caution during lactation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Sucrase/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption. Hypophosphatemia, severe renal dysfunction, children under 10 years of age, Alzheimer’s disease, pregnancy.

With caution: during lactation.

Side Effects

Constipation, nausea, vomiting, spasmodic stomach pain, changes in taste, hypermagnesemia, hypophosphatemia, hypocalcemia, hypercalciuria, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, hyperaluminemia, encephalopathy, nephrocalcinosis, impaired renal function, allergic reactions.

In patients with concomitant renal failure – thirst, decreased blood pressure, hyporeflexia.

Interaction

May adsorb some drugs, thereby reducing their absorption.

Reduces and slows down the absorption of digoxin, indomethacin, salicylates, chlorpromazine, phenytoin, H2-histamine receptor blockers, beta-blockers, diflunisal, isoniazid, tetracycline antibiotics, quinolones (ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin, enoxacin, grepafloxacin, etc.), azithromycin, cefpodoxime, pivampicillin, rifampicin, indirect anticoagulants, barbiturates, fexofenadine, dipyridamole, zalcitabine, bile acids – chenodeoxycholic and ursodeoxycholic, penicillamine, iron and lithium preparations, quinidine, lansoprazole, mexiletine, ketoconazole.

When taken simultaneously with enteric-coated drugs, increased alkalinity of gastric juice can lead to accelerated breakdown of the membrane and cause irritation of the stomach and duodenum. M-anticholinergics, by slowing down gastric emptying, enhance and prolong the effect of the drug.

Overdose

Symptoms: Formation of kidney stones, severe constipation, drowsiness, hypermagnesemia. Signs of metabolic alkalosis may also be observed: mood changes, numbness or muscle pain, nervousness and fatigue, and unpleasant taste sensations.

Treatment: It is necessary to immediately take measures to quickly remove the drug: rinse the stomach, induce vomiting, take activated charcoal.
