Fosfalugel gel for oral administration 16 g sachets, 20 pcs.

An antacid drug. It has an acid-neutralizing, enveloping and adsorptive effect.

Decreases proteolytic activity of pepsin.

Does not cause alkalization of gastric juice, keeping the acidity of the gastric contents at physiological levels.

Does not cause secondary hypersecretion of hydrochloric acid. It forms a protective layer on the mucous lining of the gastrointestinal tract. Promotes removal of toxins, gases and microorganisms throughout the digestive tract and normalizes the passage of contents through the intestine.

How to take, the dosage

Over the mouth, can be in its pure form or diluted in half a glass of water before intake.

Adults and children over 6 years – 1-2 sachets 2-3 times a day; with gastroesophageal reflux, diaphragmatic hernia – immediately after a meal and at night; Peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer – 1-2 hours after a meal and immediately after the onset of pain, with gastritis and dyspepsia – before a meal, with functional disorders of the colon – in the morning on an empty stomach and at night. Administration of the drug is repeated if the pain occurs in between doses.

In children: up to 6 months – 4 g (1/4 sachet or 1 tsp.) after each of 6 feedings; after 6 months – 8 g (1/2 sachet or 2 tsp.) after each of 4 feedings.

Interaction

When using Fosfalugel at the same time as tetracyclines, iron preparations, cardiac glycosides decrease their absorption; therefore the above mentioned drugs should be taken not earlier than 2 hours after taking Fosfalugel.

Special Instructions

With caution use Fosfalugel in high doses in elderly patients and patients with impaired renal function because of the possible risk of constipation.

The drug should not be taken earlier than 1-2 hours after administration and when used together.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

Side effects

Contipation (mainly in elderly patients and bed-ridden patients).

Overdose

Symptoms: suppression of gastrointestinal motility (because of the large amount of aluminum ions).

Treatment: administration of laxatives.
