As part of the complex treatment of inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract, accompanied by cough with sputum difficult to separate (tracheitis, bronchitis, tracheobronchitis), and spastic cough.

Indications

As part of complex therapy for inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract, accompanied by a cough with difficult to separate sputum (tracheitis, bronchitis, tracheobronchitis), as well as spasmodic cough.

Pharmacological effect

The drug has an expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect.

Special instructions

The drug contains ethyl alcohol 8.1% (volume in percent).

If you follow the dosage instructions, each time you take the drug, adults and children over 12 years of age will consume up to 1.28 g of absolute ethyl alcohol in the maximum single dose of the drug (20 ml) and up to 6.4 g of absolute ethyl alcohol in the maximum daily dose of the drug (100 ml);

children from 5 years to 12 years – up to 0.64 g of absolute ethyl alcohol in the maximum single dose of the drug (10 ml) and up to 1.28 g of absolute ethyl alcohol in the maximum daily dose of the drug (20 ml);

children from 1 year to 5 years – up to 0.32 g of absolute ethyl alcohol in the maximum single dose of the drug (5 ml) and up to 0.64 g of absolute ethyl alcohol in the maximum daily dose of the drug (10 ml).

The drug contains an invert sugar solution: 1 teaspoon of the drug contains 3.8 g of a mixture of fructose and glucose, which corresponds to 0.316 XE, 1 tablespoon contains 7.6 g of the mixture, which corresponds to 0.632 XE. People with diabetes and on a low-carbohydrate diet should take this information into account.

Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and machinery When using the drug, it is not recommended to perform hazardous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (including driving vehicles, working with moving mechanisms).

Composition

100 g of syrup contains:

active components:

plantain extract liquid (1:2-2.5) – 3.00 g (extractant: ethanol 44.7% (V/V)),

thyme liquid extract (1:2-2.5) – 15.00 g (extractant: ammonia solution 10% (m/m): glycerin 85%: ethanol 90% (V/V): water (1:20:70:109));

auxiliary components:

methyl parahydroxybenzoate – 0.07 g,

propyl parahydroxybenzoate – 0.03 g,

invert sugar solution – 81.90 g (glucose – 19.8 g, fructose – 19.8 g, sucrose – 19.8 g,

purified water – 22.5 g).

Pregnancy

The use of the drug is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to the components of the drug (in the presence of hypersensitivity to plantain, thyme, or other plants of the Lamiaceae family and the components methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate);

sucrase/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption;

liver disease, alcoholism, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury (due to the possible negative effects of ethanol);

pregnancy and breastfeeding (due to the possible negative effects of ethanol);

children under 1 year of age (due to the possible negative effects of ethanol).

Side Effects

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), adverse effects are classified according to their frequency as follows:

very often (≥ 1/10), often (≥ 1/100, ˂1/10), infrequently (≥ 1/1000, ˂1/100), rarely (≥ 1/10000, ˂1/1000) and very rarely (˂ 1/10000); frequency unknown (the frequency of events cannot be determined from the available data).

Very rarely, allergic reactions are possible (including due to the content of alkyl parahydroxybenzoates in the drug).

From the gastrointestinal tract: very rarely – pain in the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

From the immune system: very rarely – hypersensitivity reaction, including angioedema, skin rashes, urticaria, itching.

The drug may have a negative effect on teeth (caries).

If side effects occur, you should stop using the drug and consult your doctor.

Interaction

Due to the ethanol content, the drug enhances the effect of sedatives, hypnotics and other drugs that depress the central nervous system. The simultaneous administration of antitussive drugs is not recommended, due to the difficulty of sputum discharge.

Overdose

When using the drug in doses higher than recommended, dose-dependent side effects may increase. Treatment is symptomatic.
