Pharmacological properties:

Combination drug, the action of which is due to the components in its composition. Enzystal® has a protective coating which does not dissolve before entering the small intestine, which protects the enzymes from the destructive action of gastric juice.

Ensistal® facilitates fast and complete digestion of food, alleviates the symptoms resulting from digestive disorders (a feeling of heaviness and overfilling of the stomach, flatulence, shortness of breath due to accumulation of gas in the intestines, diarrhea). Amylase, lipase and protease enzymes included in pancreatin facilitate the digestion of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, which facilitates their full absorption in the small intestine.

Hemicellulase is an enzyme that promotes the breakdown of plant fiber, which also improves digestion and reduces the formation of gas in the intestine. Bile extract has a choleretic effect, helps emulsify fats, increases the activity of lipase, improves the absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.

Indications

Insufficiency of exocrine pancreatic function in cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis;
after pancreatectomy;
when the pancreatic duct is compressed by a tumor;
steatorrhea with malabsorption syndrome;
conditions after gastrectomy, dyspepsia in case of errors in nutrition;
for chronic diseases of the digestive system (especially in the elderly) and in patients on long-term bed rest, preparation for x-ray and ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, acute pancreatitis, exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, liver failure, hepatitis, obstructive jaundice, cholelithiasis, gallbladder empyema, intestinal obstruction, children under 6 years of age, cholelithiasis.

With caution: cystic fibrosis.

Side Effects

Allergic reactions, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, decreased endogenous synthesis of bile acids. With long-term use in high doses, the development of hyperuricosuria and an increase in the level of uric acid in the blood plasma is possible.

In children, when using high doses, perianal irritation and irritation of the oral mucosa may develop.

Interaction

Cimetidine and antacids enhance the effect. Reduces the bioavailability of iron preparations.
