Natamycin is an antifungal polyene antibiotic from the macrolide group with a broad spectrum of action.

It has a fungicidal effect.

Bonds with sterols of cell membranes, disrupting their integrity and function, which leads to the death of microorganisms.

It is active against the majority of pathogenic yeast-like fungi (especially Candida albicans), yeasts (Torulopsis and Rhodotorula) and other pathogenic fungi (Aspergillus, Penicillium).

Less active against dermatophytes (Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton).

It has no effect in vitro on Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Resistance to natamycin in clinical practice does not occur.

Indications

Vaginitis, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis caused by fungi of the genus Candida.

Pharmacological effect

Special instructions

During vaginal application, under the influence of body temperature, the suppositories turn into a foamy mass, which facilitates the uniform distribution of natamycin throughout the vaginal mucosa.

During the treatment period, there is no need to exclude sexual contacts, however, it is recommended to examine sexual partners and, if candidal lesions are detected, undergo a course of treatment with natamycin.

During treatment, barrier methods of contraception should be used.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery

The use of Ecofucin® does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and machines.

Composition

1 sup. natamycin 100 mg

Excipients:

lactulose – 300 mg,

macrogol glyceryl hydroxystearate – 200 mg,

colloidal silicon dioxide – 20 mg,

solid fat (Suppotsir AM) – up to 2300 mg.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Side Effects

When applied topically, mild irritation and a burning sensation at the injection site may occur.

Interaction

Drug interactions between Ecofucin® and other drugs have not been described.

Overdose

Currently, no cases of overdose of Ecofucin® have been reported.
