A combined product containing a complex of 11 vitamins and 8 minerals that are important factors in metabolic processes. One red and one blue tablet contains vitamins and minerals in amounts that meet the daily requirements of the body. For better absorption of the vitamin-mineral complex and to maintain the activity of the main components, the vitamins and minerals are separated into a variety of colors. Vitamins are contained in red drops, and minerals in blue drops.

Vitamin A is involved in the synthesis of various substances (proteins, lipids, mucopolysaccharides) and ensures the normal function of the skin, mucous membranes and eyes.

Vitamin B1 normalizes heart function and contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Vitamin B2 contributes to the regeneration of tissues, including skin cells.

Vitamin B6 contributes to the maintenance of structure and function of bones, teeth and gums. It also has an influence on erythropoiesis and contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Vitamin B12 is involved in erythropoiesis, promotes normal functioning of the nervous system. B vitamins are involved in the formation of various enzymes that regulate different types of metabolism in the body.

Folic acid stimulates erythropoiesis.

Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant. It prevents excessive blood clotting and has a positive effect on the peripheral circulation. It participates in the synthesis of proteins and hemoglobin, in cell growth, the function of skeletal muscles, heart and blood vessels and sex glands.

Vitamin C is involved in the oxidation of a number of biologically active substances, the regulation of metabolism in connective tissue, carbohydrate metabolism, blood coagulation and tissue regeneration, stimulates the formation of steroid hormones, and normalizes capillary permeability. Vitamin C increases resistance to infection and reduces inflammatory reactions.

Calcium is involved in the formation of bone tissue, blood clotting, transmission of nerve impulses, the contraction of skeletal and smooth muscles, normal functioning of the heart. It also contributes to the absorption of iron.

Magnesium is involved in the formation of muscle and bone tissue, and is also involved in protein synthesis.

How to take, the dosage

The drug is recommended to be taken orally after breakfast.

Adults and children over 10 years of age take 1 red tablet and 1 blue tablet daily.

The drams should be swallowed whole with a small amount of water.

The course of treatment is 20 days. The course of taking the drug may be repeated after a break (1-3 months) or according to the doctor’s recommendation.

Interaction

The drug contains iron and calcium and therefore delays absorption in the intestine of antibiotics from the tetracycline group, as well as antimicrobial agents – fluoroquinolones derivatives.

Vitamin C increases the effect and side effects of antimicrobials from the sulfonamide group (including the appearance of crystals in the urine).

Antacids containing aluminum, magnesium, calcium, and cholisteramine reduce iron absorption. Therefore, if Duovit and antacid drugs must be prescribed together, it is necessary to keep an interval between doses of at least 3 hours.

The simultaneous administration of diuretics from the thiazide group increases the possibility of hypercalcemia. It is not recommended to take Duovit together with other drugs containing vitamins and minerals.

Special Instructions

Yellow coloring of urine is possible; it is absolutely harmless and can be explained by the presence of riboflavin in the drug.

Patients with diabetes need to know that each tablet contains 0.8 g of sugar, and a daily dose of the drug contains 1.6 g of sugar.

The Duovit red and blue tablets contain 331 mg of lactose, 1083 mg of sucrose, 270 mg of glucose, and 237 mg of sorbitol, so it is not recommended for patients with congenital glucose and fructose intolerance, with glucose/galactose malabsorption syndrome and sucrose/isomaltose deficiency.

The drug contains glycerol, in case of overdose, headache and gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, vomiting) are possible. Azo dyes E 124 and E 110 may cause hypersensitivity reactions with an asthmatic component. Hypersensitivity reactions to the drug are possible in patients with hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid.

The red colored dragees contain polyol (mannitol), which in high doses may cause diarrhea.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose; consult your doctor immediately if you accidentally take high doses.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug.

Overdose

Symptoms: No cases of overdose have been reported when taking the drug in the recommended doses.

If the recommended doses are significantly exceeded, there may be cases of hypervitaminosis A and D. The drug contains glycerol, so if we take an overdose, we may get headaches and gastrointestinal disorders (including diarrhea and vomiting).

Treatment: symptomatic.
