Diosmectite is an adsorbent and anti-diarrheal agent of natural origin.

It has a protective effect on the intestinal mucosa, has a pronounced adsorptive and weakly expressed coating action.

It is a stabilizer of the mucous barrier, penetrates the mucus and increases its lifetime, forming a physical barrier that protects the mucous membrane of the digestive tract from the negative effects of H+ ions, intestinal microorganisms and their toxins.

Indications

Acute and chronic diarrhea, including children; symptomatic treatment of pain syndrome in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (esophagitis, gastroduodenitis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, diseases of the large intestine, colic).

Active substance:

dioctahedral smectite – 3 g;

Auxiliary substances:

glucose (dextrose) – 0.749 g,

vanillin – 0.004 g,

saccharin soluble (sodium saccharinate) – 0.007 g;

How to take, the dosage

Adults are prescribed 3 sachets daily for at least 3 days. In acute diarrhea at the beginning of treatment, the daily dose may be doubled.

Dissolve the contents of 1 sachet in half a glass of water before taking it. In order to obtain a homogeneous suspension, gradually pour the powder into the liquid, stirring it evenly. In esophagitis the drug is preferably taken after meals, in other cases – between meals.

Children under 1 year of age are prescribed 1 bag per day; from 1 to 2 years – 2 bags per day; over 2 years – 2-3 bags per day. The course of treatment is at least 3 days.

The contents of the sachet are dissolved in a baby bottle designed for 50 ml of water, and distributed over several servings throughout the day, or thoroughly mixed with some semi-liquid food: soup, porridge, compote, puree, baby food.

Interaction

In concomitant ingestion, diosmectite reduces the rate and/or degree of absorption of other drugs.

Special Instructions

The development of constipation is a dose-dependent complication (goes away with dose reduction) and does not prevent continuation of treatment.

Hypersensitivity, intestinal obstruction.
