Special instructions

Dimethyl sulfoxide is used with caution concomitantly with other drugs, as it may enhance their effects.
Before using dimethyl sulfoxide, it is recommended to conduct a drug tolerance test.

Hypersensitivity to Dimexide or other components of the drug;
severe damage to the liver and kidneys;
angina pectoris;
myocardial infarction;
severe atherosclerosis;
various types of stroke;
glaucoma, cataract;
coma;
pregnancy;
lactation period;
children’s age up to 12 years.

With caution: due to the fact that Dimexide can enhance not only the activity, but also the toxicity of some drugs, caution should be exercised when prescribing it simultaneously with other drugs.

Side Effects

Possible: allergic reactions, itchy dermatitis, contact dermatitis, erythema, dry skin, mild burning.
Rarely: bronchospasm.

Interaction

It is possible to use dimethyl sulfoxide in combination with heparin, antibiotics and NSAIDs in dosage forms for external use. Increases absorption and enhances the effect of ethanol and insulin.

Overdose

Symptoms: increased dose-dependent side effects.

Treatment: in these cases, the drug should be discontinued, the damaged area should be washed, and the drug should be removed.
