Différin is a comedolytic, anti-inflammatory.

Pharmacodynamics

Adapalene – a metabolite of retinoid, has comedonolytic and anti-inflammatory activity, normalizes the processes of keratinization and epidermal differentiation.

The mechanism of action of adapalene is based on interaction with specific γ-receptors of epidermal skin cells. As a result of the action of adapalene, in particular, the “adhesion” of epithelial cells at the mouth of the follicle and the reduction of preconditions for the formation of microcomedones.

Adapalen has an anti-inflammatory effect in vivo and in vitro, acting on inflammatory factors by inhibiting the migration of leukocytes in the inflammation focus and arachidonic acid metabolism.

Pharmacokinetics

The absorption of adapalene through the skin is very low (about 4% of the applied dose). Excretion from the body occurs mainly through the bile.

How to take, the dosage

Externally. With a light touch, apply the gel or cream evenly to the affected area once a day before going to bed on clean dry skin, avoiding contact with eyes and lips.

Therapeutic effect develops after 4-8 weeks of treatment, lasting improvement after 3 months of treatment.

In some cases, due to transient skin irritation, the number of applications may be reduced or the treatment suspended until the signs of irritation have disappeared.

Retreatment is possible after consultation with a physician.

Interaction

Because it does not interact with oxygen or degrade when exposed to light, it can be used with other topical and systemic acne medications such as clindamycin phosphate or benzoyl peroxide.

Special Instructions

Avoid getting the gel or cream in the eyes, on the lips and on the mucous membranes.

In case of accidental contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes, mouth or nose, rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Stay out of direct sunlight as there may be mild skin irritation. Treatment may be continued if sun exposure is minimized (use of sunglasses and hats).

The simultaneous use of cosmetic products with drying or irritating effects on the skin (e.g., perfumes or alcohol-based products) is not recommended.

Adapalene applied to the skin in the evening may be combined with acne medications used in the morning.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients of the drug.

With caution: Dermatitis, eczema.

Side effects

Skin irritation (treatment should be stopped until skin irritation has disappeared or the frequency of use reduced.)

Pregnancy use

Différin is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
