Diazolin is a blocker of histamine H1-receptors.
It has anti-allergic, antipruritic, antiexudative and weak sedative effect.
Blocks histamine H1-receptors, decreases smooth muscle tone (bronchi, gastrointestinal tract, uterus), decreases capillary permeability and edema development, prevents itching.
Indications
- Allergic rhinitis (seasonal, chronic), pollinosis, allergic conjunctivitis, urticaria, Quincke’s edema, itchy dermatosis (eczema, neurodermatitis, etc.).

How to take, the dosage
Diazolin is prescribed orally after meals.
Adults and children over 10 years of age: 50-300 mg per day. The maximum single dose is 300 mg, the daily dose is 600 mg.
Children 5-10 years of age: 100-200 mg per day.
Children 2-5 years: 50-150 mg per day.
Interaction
Potentiates the effect of alcohol and medications that depress the central nervous system.
Special Instructions
It is ineffective in bronchial asthma and anaphylactic shock.
Contraindications
Prostatic hypertrophy, closed-angle glaucoma, gastric and duodenal ulcer, inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in the acute phase; hypersensitivity to mebhydroline, pilostenosis, epilepsy, cardiac rhythm disorders (having vagolytic effect, it may improve AV conduction and contribute to supraventricular arrhythmias), pregnancy, lactation.
Side effects
Nervous system and sensory organs: increased fatigability, slower reaction time, dizziness, somnolence, paresthesias.
Gastrointestinal organs: dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, epigastric pain.
Others: urinary disorders, allergic reactions, granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis.
Overdose
Symptoms: depression or agitation (especially in children) of central nervous system functions depression confusion. Dilated pupils dry mouth difficult breathing redness of the face paresis of the gastrointestinal tract in children – development of convulsions and death.
Treatment: no specific antidote. Induction of vomiting gastric lavage. Symptomatic therapy includes drugs that increase arterial pressure oxygen administration of intravenous plasma exchange fluids. Close monitoring of breathing and blood pressure levels. Adrenaline and analeptics should not be used.
Pregnancy use
It is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
