Diazolin is a blocker of histamine H1-receptors.
It has anti-allergic, antipruritic, antiexudative and weak sedative effect.
Blocks histamine H1-receptors, decreases smooth muscle tone (bronchi, gastrointestinal tract, uterus), decreases capillary permeability and edema development, prevents itching.
Indications
Allergic rhinitis (seasonal, chronic), hay fever, allergic conjunctivitis, urticaria, Quincke’s edema, itchy dermatosis (eczema, neurodermatitis, etc.), skin reaction to insect bites;
allergic reactions to medications, food, etc.;
combination therapy of itchy dermatoses and bronchial asthma.
Pharmacological effect
Diazolin is a histamine H1 receptor blocker.

Pregnancy
Contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation.
Contraindications
Prostate hypertrophy, angle-closure glaucoma, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in the acute phase; hypersensitivity to mebhydrolin, pyloric stenosis, epilepsy, cardiac arrhythmias (having a vagolytic effect, it can improve AV conduction and contribute to the development of supraventricular arrhythmias), pregnancy, lactation.
Side Effects
From the nervous system and sensory organs: increased fatigue, slow reaction speed, dizziness, drowsiness, paresthesia.
From the gastrointestinal tract: dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, epigastric pain.
Other: urinary disorders, allergic reactions, granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis.
Interaction
Potentiates the effect of alcohol and drugs that depress the central nervous system.
Overdose
Symptoms: depression or excitation (especially in children) of the functions of the central nervous system; depression; confusion. Dilated pupils, dry mouth, difficulty breathing, redness of the face, paresis of the gastrointestinal tract in children – the development of seizures and death.
Treatment: there is no specific antidote. Induction of vomiting and gastric lavage. Symptomatic therapy includes drugs that increase blood pressure, oxygen, and intravenous administration of plasma replacement fluids. Careful monitoring of breathing and blood pressure levels. Adrenaline and analeptics should not be used.
