Interaction
Mebhydroline increases the effect of sedatives and ethanol.
Directions for use
Adults and children over 10 years of age – 100-300 mg/day. Daily dose for children aged 5-10 years – 100-200 mg; 2-5 years – 50-150 mg; under 2 years – 50-100 mg.
Special Instructions
Use with caution in hepatic and/or renal failure (dose and intervals between doses may need to be adjusted).
Impact on the ability to drive and operate machinery
At the time of treatment, one should refrain from potentially hazardous activities requiring increased attention and quick psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles or operating machinery).
Features
After oral administration it is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
Contraindications
Prostate hypertrophy, closed-angle glaucoma, gastric and duodenal ulcer, inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases in acute phase; hypersensitivity to mebhydroline, pilostenosis, epilepsy, cardiac rhythm disorders (having vagolytic effect, can improve AV conductivity and contribute to supraventricular arrhythmias), pregnancy, lactation.
Side effects
Digestive system disorders: rarely – dry mouth, dyspeptic symptoms due to irritation of the gastric mucosa.
CNS and peripheral nervous system disorders: dizziness, paresthesias, increased fatigue, tremor, somnolence are possible.
Hematopoietic system: in single cases – granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis.
Urinary system disorders: in single cases – dysuria.
