Indications

Primary and secondary osteoarthritis.

Active ingredient

Composition

1 capsule contains diacerein 50 mg.

How to take, the dosage

Diaflex is taken orally, after a meal, should be swallowed whole, without chewing, with water, 50 mg twice a day (morning and evening).

Continue long-term or courses (at least 4 months).

Diacerein for the first 2 weeks may cause accelerated intestinal transit, so it is recommended to start treatment with one capsule daily in the evening with food for 4 weeks.

Thereafter, the dose is increased to 100 mg/day.

Interaction

Antacids reduce absorption of the drug. When concomitant use with drugs affecting the intestinal microflora (including antibiotics), with substances that change the quality of intestinal contents and the rate of its emptying (fiber), the frequency of intestinal side effects increases.

The drugs containing aluminum hydroxide and/or magnesium hydroxide reduce the bioavailability of diacerein.

Simultaneous use with laxatives is not recommended.

Special Instructions

The duration of treatment may be prolonged. Until therapeutic effect, diacerein may be taken simultaneously with analgesic drugs (including NSAIDs). Periodic monitoring of blood values, liver function tests, urine are necessary. The drug dose should be reduced if kidney function worsens.

In patients with CKD, with CK less than 30 ml/min, the dose of Diacerein should be decreased to 50 mg/day and then titrated according to tolerability and clinical efficacy.

The staining of urine may make it difficult to interpret urinalysis results (e.g., for glucose content).

Contraindications

– age under 18 years;
– lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption;
– hypersensitivity to diacerein and other components of Diaflex Romfarm (including anthraquinone laxatives.
– Sensitivity to Diacerein and other components of Diaflex Rofarm (including anthraquinone laxative medicinal products).
With caution: severe hepatic or renal insufficiency, intestinal obstruction, inflammatory bowel diseases.

Side effects

Digestive system disorders: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, hepatitis.

Allergic reactions: urticaria, fever, bronchospasm, angioedema, anaphylactic shock.

Others: malaise, intense yellow to brown staining of urine (depending on pH) (of no clinical significance).

Overdose

Symptoms: diarrhea, weakness.

Treatment: symptomatic. In severe diarrhea it is necessary to control the electrolyte composition of plasma.
