Dexpanthenol-Vertex, 5% ointment 30 g
€7.45 €6.52
Dexpanthenol is a derivative of pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid is a water-soluble B vitamin and is a part of coenzyme A. It stimulates skin regeneration, normalizes cell metabolism and increases the strength of collagen fibers.
The increased need for pantothenic acid is observed when there is damage to the skin or tissues, and its deficiency can be compensated by topical application of dexpanthenol.
Optimal molecular weight, hydrophilicity and low polarity allow its penetration into all skin layers. It has a regenerating, mild anti-inflammatory effect.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically, it is rapidly absorbed and converted to pantothenic acid and binds to plasma proteins (mainly beta-globulin and albumin).
