Dexpanthenol, 5% ointment 30 g
€10.38 €8.65
Dexpanthenol is a derivative of pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid is a water-soluble B vitamin (vitamin B5) and is part of coenzyme A. It stimulates skin regeneration, normalizes cell metabolism, accelerates mitosis and increases the strength of collagen fibers. Increased need for pantothenic acid is observed in case of skin or tissue damage, and its deficiency can be compensated by local application of dexpanthenol.
Pharmokinetics
When applied topically it is quickly absorbed and converted to pantothenic acid, bound to plasma proteins (mainly beta-globulin and albumin). The concentration of pantothenic acid in blood is 0.5-1 mg/l, in plasma 100 µg/l. Pantothenic acid is not metabolized in the body and is excreted unchanged by the kidneys.
