Combination drug for topical application in gynecology with regenerating, antimicrobial, metabolic action.
Chlorhexidine is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria: Treponema pallidum, Chlamydia spp, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides fragilis, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.; yeasts, dermatophytes, protozoa (Trichomonas vaginalis). Some strains of Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp. are slightly sensitive to chlorhexidine, as well as acid-resistant forms of bacteria, bacterial spores are resistant.
Dexpanthenol stimulates the regeneration of mucous membranes, normalizes cellular metabolism, accelerates mitosis and increases the strength of collagen fibers.
Depantol® does not disturb the functional activity of lactobacilli. It retains activity (although somewhat reduced) in the presence of blood and pus.
Indications
Vaginitis, itching and dryness in the genital area
For the treatment of: acute and chronic vaginitis; bacterial vaginosis; endo-/exocervicitis; true cervical erosions of specific etiology (in the complex therapy).

Dexpanthenol, Chlorhexidine
Composition
Dexpanthenol 100 mg; chlorhexidine bigluconate 20% solution 85.2 mg (in terms of chlorhexidine bigluconate – 16 mg).
How to take, the dosage
It is used intravaginally. Before use, the suppository is freed from the contour packing. To administer 1 suppository 2 times a day, for 7-10 days. If necessary, it is possible to extend the course of treatment for up to 20 days. If after treatment there is no improvement, or the symptoms worsen, or new symptoms appear, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
Use the drug only according to the indications, the method of administration and in the doses specified in the instructions for use.
Interaction
As a precautionary measure regarding possible interactions (antagonism or inactivation), should not be used simultaneously with other antiseptics administered intravaginally.
Depantol® is incompatible with detergents containing an anionic group (including saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose) and soaps when administered intravaginally.
The simultaneous use with iodine-containing drugs used intravaginally is not recommended.
If the above or other medications (including over-the-counter medications) need to be used, the patient should consult a physician before using Depantol®.
Directions for use
In cases of acute and chronic vaginitis; bacterial vaginosis; endo-/exocervicitis; true cervical erosions of specific etiology.
Special Instructions
If side effects occur, stop using the drug and consult a doctor. During treatment it is recommended to refrain from sexual intercourse. Before and after using the drug you should wash your hands.
Synopsis
Depantol® is a drug for the treatment of vaginal infections with complex action: antimicrobial, regenerating, anti-inflammatory.
Two active ingredients in Depantol®: chlorhexidine and dexpanthenol.
– Chlorhexidine as an antiseptic has antimicrobial action. It fights anaerobic bacteria, yeast-like fungi, protozoa – agents of vaginal infections.
– Dexpanthenol is a derivative of vitamin B5. It reduces inflammation, promotes healing, moisturizes and restores the vaginal mucosa.
Depantol® is recommended for the treatment and prevention of the following diseases:
– Vaginal infections: Vaginitis (acute and chronic), cervicitis, bacterial vaginosis,
– in the therapy of cervical erosion,
– healing of vaginal and cervical mucosa after childbirth or surgery,
– prevention of complications before examinations, childbirth, surgery.
The preparation is safe for use during pregnancy and lactation as it contains no hormones or antibiotics.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug.
Side effects
Allergic reactions (rash, itching), burning are possible. Chlorhexidine in very rare cases
(< 0.0001%) may cause hypersensitivity reactions, including severe
allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.

Overdose
In cases of overdose are unknown. If the drug is used in accordance with the instructions for use, overdose is unlikely.
Pregnancy use
Depantol is approved for use during pregnancy and lactation.
