Dexpanthenol is a derivative of pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid is a water-soluble B vitamin (vitamin B5) – a component of coenzyme A (Co-A). It stimulates skin regeneration normalizes cell metabolism increases the strength of collagen fibers.
In case of skin or tissue damage, an increased demand for pantothenic acid can be compensated by external application of dexpanthenol. Its optimal molecular weight hydrophilicity and low polarity allow its penetration into all layers of the skin. It has a mild anti-inflammatory effect.

In children: diaper dermatitis skin irritation treatment and prevention of diaper rash. Cracks and nipple inflammation in breastfeeding mothers.
It is also used for the treatment and protection of dry skin as a source of neutral fats and dexpanthenol.

How to take, the dosage
Externally.
The ointment is applied 2-4 times a day (more often if necessary) in a thin layer on the affected skin area, rubbing gently. If applied to an infected skin surface, it should be pretreated with any antiseptic.
Breastfeeding mothers should apply the ointment to the nipple surface after each breastfeeding.
Infants (including newborns) should apply the ointment after every change of underwear or water treatment.
The duration of the drug and the possibility of repeating the course of treatment depends on the individual characteristics of the course of the disease in the patient and is determined by the therapeutic effect achieved and tolerability of the drug.
Interaction
Interaction of dexpanthenol with other medicines for external use has not been established.
Special Instructions
The treatment of trophic ulcers and poorly healing skin grafts should be done under the supervision of a physician.
Do not apply to soaking wounds.
Contraindications
D-Panthenol ointment should not be used if you are hypersensitive to the components of the drug.
Side effects
Allergic reactions (including delayed ones due to the presence of parahydroxybenzoates in the drug).
