Pharmacological properties

CYCLOPHERON® is a low molecular weight interferon inducer, which determines a wide range of its biological activity (antiviral, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory).
CYCLOPHERON® is effective against herpes virus and other pathogens. It has a direct antiviral effect by inhibiting the reproduction of the virus at early stages (1-5 days) of infection. The main clinical effect of CYCLOFERON® is related to the induction of early α-interferon. The drug normalizes cytokine imbalance of opposite forms of immune response.

The local pharmacotherapeutic effect of CYCLOFERON® is due to the stimulation of the local immune response in the mucosal lymphoid tissue. CYCLOFERON® liniment effectiveness in the treatment of chronic periodontitis is shown in suppression of pathogenic microorganisms growth and normalization of the level of secretory immunoglobulin A in the fluid of the periodontal pockets which ensures qualitative sanitation of the oral cavity reducing inflammation and bleeding of gums.

Indications

In adults in complex therapy:

– herpes infection of the skin and mucous membranes;
– nonspecific vaginitis and vaginosis;
– chronic periodontitis.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

CYCLOFERON® is a low-molecular-weight interferon inducer, which determines a wide range of its biological activity (antiviral, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory).
CYCLOFERON® is effective against the herpes virus and other pathogens. It has a direct antiviral effect, suppressing virus reproduction in the early stages (days 1–5) of the infectious process. The main clinical effect of the CYCLOFERON® liniment is associated with the induction of early α-interferon. The drug normalizes the cytokine imbalance of opposite forms of the immune response.

The local pharmacotherapeutic effect of the drug CYCLOFERON® is due to the stimulation of the local immune response in the lymphoid tissue of the mucous membrane. The effectiveness of CYCLOFERON® liniment in the treatment of chronic periodontitis is manifested in suppressing the growth of pathogenic microorganisms and normalizing the level of secretory immunoglobulin A in the fluid of periodontal pockets, which provides high-quality sanitation of the oral cavity, helping to reduce inflammation and bleeding of the gums.

Special instructions

The drug has a bitter taste.

It is not recommended to intensively rub the drug into the gums.

Do not allow the drug to come into contact with the mucous membrane of the eyes. In case of contact, rinse eyes with water.

Active ingredient

Meglumine acridone acetate

Composition

1 ml contains 50 mg of meglumine acridone acetate* in terms of acridone acetic acid

* obtained according to the following formula:

acridone acetic acid – 50 mg,

meglumine (N-methylglucamine) – 38.5 mg.

Excipients:

benzalkonium chloride – 0.1 mg,

1,2-propylene glycol – up to 1 ml.

Contraindications

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, age under 18 years, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding The use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding is contraindicated.

Side Effects

Allergic reactions. A short-term burning sensation and slight local hyperemia are possible. Side effects are mild and do not require discontinuation of the drug. If any of the side effects listed in the instructions get worse or you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.

Interaction

Liniment CYCLOFERON® is compatible with all medications traditionally used in the treatment of these diseases (chemotherapeutic drugs, etc.). For chronic forms of diseases, the drug combines well with other medications (vaginal tablets and suppositories). Strengthens the effect of antibiotics, antiseptics and antifungal drugs.

Overdose

Data on cases of overdose of the drug Cycloferon are not provided.

Shelf life
