A combined antibacterial drug for topical use in ophthalmology.
Chloramphenicol is a broad spectrum antibiotic, inhibits protein synthesis of susceptible microorganisms; active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, Mycoplasma spp, Rickettsia spp., Chlamydia spp.; not active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, fungi.
Tetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis of bacteria at RNA level and has bacteriostatic action. It is active against Gram-negative bacteria, Chlamydia spp., Mycoplasma spp., Rickettsia spp., Entamoeba histolytica. Resistance of microorganisms develops slowly.< /p>
Sodium colistimethate is an antibiotic that is isolated from Bacillus polymixa, var. colistinus. It has a bactericidal effect on most gram-negative bacteria (including Pseudomonas spp., Haemophilus spp.); active against fungi. There is no cross-resistance with broad-spectrum antibiotics with which colistimethate sodium shows synergism.< /p>

Composition
The ointment is semi-solid, yellow.

Auxiliary substances: petroleum jelly, lanolin, petroleum jelly.
How to take, the dosage
The eye ointment should be placed in the lower conjunctival sac 3-4 times a day. If the ointment is combined with the use of eye drops, the ointment may be applied only once a day (before bedtime).
Interaction
There are no drug interactions between Colbiotin and other drugs for topical use.
Special Instructions
If there is no significant clinical improvement within a relatively short period of time or if allergic reactions occur, Colbiocin should be discontinued and appropriate anti-allergy therapy provided.
There have been rare cases of bone marrow hypoplasia due to long-term topical use of chloramphenicol.Because rare cases of bone marrow hypoplasia have been reported due to prolonged topical use of chloramphenicol, Colbiocin should be used for short periods of time and under the supervision of an ophthalmologist.
Contraindications
Side effects
Local reactions: transient conjunctival hyperemia, burning sensation.
Allergic reactions: angioedema, urticaria, bullous and patchy-papular dermatitis.
Overdose
There have been no reported cases of overdose of Colbiotin.
Pregnancy use
The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and during lactation (breastfeeding).
Prevent use in children
The drug is contraindicated in children under 8 years of age.
