Clotrimazole-Acrihin, 1% 15 ml

Clotrimazole is an imidazole derivative. It is an antifungal agent of broad spectrum action. The effect of the drug is associated with disruption of the synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the cell membrane of fungi, which causes changes in its structure and properties and leads to cell lysis. Dermatophytes, yeasts (genus Candida, Torulopsis glabrata, Rhodotorula), mold fungi, as well as the causative agent of Pityriasis versicolor (colored lichen) and pathogen of optrazma are sensitive to clotrimazole.

In addition, it has antimicrobial action against Gram-positive (staphylococci and streptococci) and Gram-negative bacteria (Bacteroides, Gardnerella vaginalis), as well as against Trichomonas vaginalis, Malasseria furfur, Corinebacterium minussimum.

Indications

Fungal skin and mucous membranes.

– Mycoses of feet/fingers, smooth skin of trunk, limbs, folds, beard, mustache, scalp caused by dermatophytes.

– Shingles, optitis, skin and genital mucosa candidiasis, paronychia.

Composition

1 ml of the solution for external use contains:

clotrimazole 10 mg.

How to take, the dosage

A few drops of the solution should be lightly rubbed into the changed skin areas 2-3 times a day. After elimination of acute symptoms of the disease, treatment should be continued for at least another 4 weeks.

In case of dermatomycosis of the feet, the drug should be used for another 2 weeks after all symptoms of the disease have resolved in order to prevent recurrence of the disease.
It is recommended to apply the solution after each foot wash.

The drug should not be used with an occlusive dressing.

Interaction

Decreases the effect of polyene antibiotics (amphotericin, nystatin, natamycin, etc.). Propyl ester of para-hydroxybenzoic acid in high concentrations increases the antifungal effect of clotrimazole, dexamethasone reduces it.

In concomitant use with nystatin the activity of clotrimazole may decrease.

Special Instructions

To prevent the spread of urogenital infection, simultaneous treatment of sexual partners is necessary. For trichomoniasis, other drugs with systemic action (e.g., oral metronidazole) should be administered together with clotrimazole for more successful treatment. If the drug is administered in an inappropriate way (orally), the following symptoms may occur – anorexia, nausea, vomiting, gastralgia, impaired liver function, rarely sleepiness, hallucinations, pollakiuria, skin allergic reactions. In these situations, it is necessary to take activated charcoal and consult a doctor.

If allergic reactions or irritation develop, treatment should be stopped and other therapy should be chosen. In dermatomycosis of the feet, application of the solution after each foot wash is recommended.

Application of the drug to the skin in the eye area is not recommended. If after 4 weeks of treatment no clinical improvement has been noted, it is necessary to confirm the diagnosis microbiologically and rule out another cause of the disease.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole, first trimester of pregnancy.

Side effects

Allergic reactions (itching, urticaria).

When applied topically to the skin: erythema, blisters, swelling, burning and tingling, skin irritation and flaking.

When used topically to treat urogenital infections:Itching, burning, mucosal hyperemia and swelling, vaginal discharge, frequent urination, intercurrent cystitis, burning sensation in the penis in the partner, pain during intercourse.

In local application in the oral cavity: redness of the oral mucosa, a burning and tingling sensation at the site of application, irritation.

Pregnancy use

It should not be used in the first trimester of pregnancy (adequate and strictly controlled studies have not been conducted). In intravaginal use in women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, no adverse effects on the fetus have been identified, but the use of a vaginal applicator is undesirable.

With caution – during breast-feeding (it is unknown whether clotrimazole penetrates into the breast milk.)
